These are the rules.
The celebrity in question must be deceased.
They must have been a celebrity prior to their death.
If there is a question that they are a celebrity, their status must get a second vote by another DRC member.

I have to challenge Jean Biden and Glen Bell as a celebrity. They have ties to celebrity but aren't celebrities themselves. It' like saying Prince's mother is a celebrity.

I'll give Jean Biden a thumbs down, and Glen Bell a thumbs up. Biden's fame is incidental, but Bell actually did found the Taco Bell chain that bears his name.

But how many people knew of him and not just his restaurants? His restaurants are famous -- not him.

Also thumbs down on Jean Biden -- never heard of her. Her son would qualify (should he die in 2010).

I like where this is going. I'll let a few more of you weigh in on the contestants.

How about Zinn? I wasn't sure who he was till I read his wiki page. Howard Zinn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'm familiar with his "A Peoples History of the United States, but must admit I don't read books of that magnitude. Chrissy is much gooder read than I is.

If someone's only real claim to fame is that they were related to someone famous... they don't make the list. Is that the official ruling?

I would say that's a good guideline.
As always, it's open to discussion.

Someone that makes it to the list can be voted off the list too, if a compelling case can be made.

I think we're up to date for today. . . .
There's 90 minutes left. . . .

Well, Nightline DID pay tribute to Mrs. Biden.

In many cases, the parents of top governmental figures end up celebs themselves by incident.

True, Glenn Bell was no Col. Sanders, but hey, millions of stoners depend on his restaurants every night for their "fourthmeal".

Gotta give him props for passing off meat not even good enough to be dogfood as TexMex!

Sorry, gotta do more than be related to a celebrity to be one (see Frank Stallone!)

I'd say every nominee requires a second. No second, no makey the list.

Disputed nominees can be discussed, with Hectic making the final decision.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah, this makes sense. As a for instance, I would consider Dave Thomas of Wendy's fame a celeb but I don't think that I would count the Taco Bell guy. Just creating something huge doesn't make you a celebrity, I don't think.
