David asked who would be the best candidate to run Nascar if the France family no longer was involved. A commish type. I think Alba Colon would do a great job. For those who might not know who that is she is a engineer that is the liason between nascar and chevorlet. She makes sure all of the chevy teams have what they need to keep the chevy power going.

I don’t see how NASCAR (as we know it today) could exist without the France family. Try to imagine NASCAR being ran like the NFL. Way too many changes would have to take place. I guess a better analogy would be to imagine the NFL ran like NASCAR. Try to imagine if the NFL owned the teams and the stadiums and the officials and everything else but the players.

I can see Uranus from here
Pat McCrory

If you do not live in NC that name probably means nothing to you. He is currently out of a job as he very recently lost his bid to become govenor of NC. But on the plus side he is the former mayor of Charlotte. He was also very instrimental in securing the Nascar Hall of Fame for the city of Charlotte. In his efforts to secure that spot he made many friends in Nascar circles.

So to sum up my reasons for suggesting him.
1. needs a job (i say this with tounge firmly planted in cheek)
2. Former mayor of one of the largest banking cities in the country.
3. Key figure in getting the Nascar Hall in Charlotte.
4. Has an intimate working knowledge of the sport.

This topic was on the Frontstretch recently.

I'll go with:
Bruton Smith
David "Fox News" Poole (seriously, I'd like to see it)

And based on some of his recent comments...Dale Jr.

Otherwise, how about somebody who just understands, and listens to, the fans. "It's the racing, stupid!"

So Ill start off by saying Brian France has no business running this sport anymore. Its clear hes doing a poor job. In fact, if anybody wants to suggest what Brian has done positively since 2003, im all game for a discussion. Brian is a great businessman. For the TV package and all he has done corporatly, hes done a great job. But he has without a shadow of a doubt, lost all touch with what Nascar fans want. To blame the lack of attendence all on the economy is just delusional. Fewer and fewer people are participating and watching this sport. Why? With being Captain of the ship, Brian must absorb the blame for this.

Now who would I pick to replace him? It can be anybody. But they must without a doubt have competition and the fans at the top of his list of worries. The key to any sport is have the best possible product on the track. Next is to promote the hell out of the people participating in that competition. The rest will take care of itself. The fans will be happy, the happy fans will buy shit, and the sponsers whose product is being bought by happy fans, will be happy. Thats how it was WAY WAY back in the day back in 2001. It can be another France family member, it can be Bruton Smith, it can be Ales Hemsky, I dont care.

Boy, I don't know if I agree with that or not.

I don't like having the season on three networks. Although I understand WHY it is.

I sure as heck don't like ESPN. In fact I can't stand them and it's just another reason why I don't watch the chase races.

Plus some other reasons.

Sarah Palin!!!

I'd vote for her. Again. ;) I bet she wouldn't give goodyear 4 yrs to make a decent tire. And I bet she'd tell the folks at Indy and atlanta to redo that surface or else. She might even throw down with that witch out there at the california track. They could sell more tickets to see that then they do for the parade (I mean race).

After reading the PIR transcript of his press conference, I am now convinced more than ever that Brian France does not have a clue what hes doing. The sport does not have a direction under him, and he doesnt seem to have any answers to any of the issues that face it.

Sarah Palin? Thats replacing dumb with dumb isnt it? Id rather have Obama's wife run the sport. She seems to have some intellegence to her, and she seems capable of stringing 2 sentences together without stumbling over her uhh...errr... words.

How about Condelezza Rice? Isn't the San Fran 49's interested in her as team prez to get them back on track?? Maybe she can do the same for NASCAR.
