Is anyone here going to the Bubbapalooza in Pittsburgh? It should be interesting to see. They may have done some changes to their show. If you are going be sure to say hello and introduce yourself to me.

Wish I could go - the one here in Detroit was great fun. Say hi to Bubber and the gang for us!

I agree. His begging started to wear on me when he was asking people to spend their money on Brooke's CD.

He's thoroughly exhausted the sympathy from the audience and now is begging for free shit. Ridiculous. He needs to reign it in.

Freakin' Pittsburgher.... I bet you say "pop" for soda, too. :lick:

"Soda" doesn't exist here. I get confused when I go out of tawn and ask for pop.

It takes a second for other people to figure out what I am talking about.

Soda doesnt sound right to me.

When you go to a restaurant, you ask them what kind of "pop" they have.

We have a whole language of our own in Pittsburgh.

When you want to ask someone if they have eaten yet, you say: "Jeet Jet?" and their response could be "N'Jou?" The Steelers are really "The Stillers", our grocery store Giant Eagle is really "J'int Iggle", a sandwich is a "sammich", The phrase "And That" is "n'at", and the list goes on and on....

In California, we called it "soda pop", so there. :peace:

I live about 30 miles for Greensburg, was actually there last night to go shopping but I won't be attending tonight. Have a wedding that I HAVE to go to.

Sucks or I would so be there.

A few observations: What you're saying here isn't exclusive to the Pittsburgh area. Now, saying pop certainly is a western PA thing - no two ways about it.

But the other things you mentioned I hear around a town close to me, Berwick. Yes, "Jeet" translates into "Did you eat?" and "Na'ju?" means, "No, have you?"... however, being a Philadelphia native, that phraseology also is used there.

Now, the "'n'at" thing I've only heard in Berwick and my wife's mother says it - and it drives me bat shit crazy. After everything she says, she concludes her sentence with "n'at"... so silly.

But then in Hazleton, they have a whole other language called coal speak. Words like "henna" or "henya" exist, as does the word "biantney".

Want more, check this craziness out on Coal Speak.

Sorry for going OT but anyone have a copy of Bubba's Friday's Sirius show (9/25)? I had to switch off around the point they were talking about some of the old shenanigans with his real dad.
