:confused::confused:?????WTF?????:confused:

I've being listening to The Heat since 2006 and Sirius' description on The Heat's webpage is wrong.

The Heat Rhythmic Hits & Pop and some Reggaeton. If you want Urban, try Hip-Hop Nation or Shade 45.

There are SO many stations to play not only pop but there is a modern dance station. I saw that too while flippinng around. The new single doesn't have an once of R&B influence.

ok, what's your point? hot jams wasn't that type of music. so it kinda sucks when something you like is taken away... if i wanted top 40, i would go to hits 1.

and they are playing more r&b on hip hop nation and shade 45, which doesn't flow well. and then they mix in random and annoying old school jams. i find my self constantly switching stations. i used to be able to listen to ONE station for an hour or more without switching

and to the OP, its not just Britney... its Pink, Katy Perry and an annoying male singer, mcartney or something. blah

The MAIN point is that they need to FILL IN THE SPACES now that NWA and a thousand other RAP BANDS they can no longer play thanks to them now being curse free.

I don't think Dave disagrees with you, he is just saying what the Heat Is, if you are expecting it is going to be Hot Jamz with a different name is just isn't going to be. This isn't the first time Sirius has changed channels like this and/or referred folks to a channel that they deem its replacement and it IS NOTHING LIKE the one they replace or referred to to as a replacement.

The bottom line though for me is I like The Heat and I don't have Sirius Hits 1 on XM. I do not agree with them censoring this channel though I can tell you that.

Anyway clearly these changes have not been for everyone and it has certainly not made everyone happy. But The Heat is what it is and that is Dave's point. If I am wrong Dave please correct me.

By the way what have you guys got against trailer trash hoes? I mean come on they need a channel too. :)

:hah: @ the bolded :) and they do, it's called sirius hits 1.

but i didn't know that XM didn't have hits 1... and what i don't understand then is why bring the heat over anyway then? so on XM, you have no top 40 station? i've had XM through direct TV for almost 4 years and never listened to it for more then 20 minutes, never liked it.

i also agree with the censoring. one think i do like about the heat is that it IS censored, b/c now my son can listen along with me in the car... but hip hop nation? come'on now. AND i don't think john legend belongs on shade 45 sorry.

hopefully over time they will get their playlists situated and get enough complaints that they go back to the way they were, or at least closer to it...

otherwise i will be canceling my 3 subscriptions and just use my iphone in the car.

I was just pointing out that The Heat is a Rhythmic format, that regularly plays crossover (pop) hits like Justin Timberlake, Gnarls Barkley, and Britney Spears. You may not like this but the format is right.
Rhythmic Radio (Wikipedia):
is a music radio format that includes a mix of dance, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and R&B hits

The "new" Hip-Hop Nation was meant to replace Hot Jamz (Sirius) and The City (XM) as your standard Urban Contemporary (Hip-Hop & R&B) format which does not include Pop music. It's also uncensored.

In case you still don't know what Rhythmic Radio, try this.
http://www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/Rhy_Chart.asp (Britney Spears is currently at #36 in the rhythmic charts)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhythmic_contemporary

BTW, The Heat (according to last Arbitron ratings) was far more popular than The City (XM) and Hot Jamz (Sirius) so it was no surprised The Heat survived the merger.

honestly? i really don't care what the definition of rhythmic is. i liked hot jamz better then the heat. i don't need a definition to justify my taste in music. i liked that they didn't play pop cross overs that suck like britney and that katy chic.

sirius hits 1 is a good balance between pop and rhythmic, we didn't NEED the heat is what i'm saying. hot jamz was described on sirius as the best of Hip Hop and R&B... NOT rhythmic, which to me is a separate music genre.

from your wiki link

Rhythmic contemporary, also known as rhythmic top 40, rhythmic contemporary hit radio or rhythmic crossover, is a music radio format that includes a mix of dance, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and R&B hits. While most rhythmic stations' playlists comprised that mentioned above, some tend to lean very urban with current hip-hop, urban pop and R&B hits that gain mainstream appeal. Rhythmic contemporary is usually the music played at clubs and school dances.

and the bolded right there is what is wrong with the heat... it is for teenagers and kids still in highschool, not adults that like to listen to r&b. if i here "The Business" or what ever that stupid song is called one more time, I will throw my radio out the window while doing 80 on the highway.

and BTW, HHN, last i listened IS censored.

You hate The Heat and you loved Hot Jamz - we get it but I was just clarifying to the original post that Crossover & Pop music is not out of format on The Heat.

And btw, The Heat is mostly Hip-Hop & R&B anyways, so I don't see what's the big deal here.

because the song selection sucks. i can't listen for more then one or two songs until i need to change the station. they play "womanizer" at least once an hour and that dumb the business song like every 20 minutes it seems.

i liked it when it was ALL r&b is my point. i am sorry that XM listeners were forced to have 8 genres smashed into one station, you were deprived. the problem with having so many styles is that in a sense they are trying to play a little of everything and then we get stuck hearing the same songs from a particular genre over and over and over again... with hot jamz, yes, there was still songs that got played more often then others, but there was a LOT larger playlist then now. they didn't have to drop an r&b song to play womanizer or that mcartney kid.

just for kicks, next time i have to take my 3 hours drive, i should catalog all the songs that they play on the heat and see just how stunted it is. blah.

thank you SO much for that, i mean it really.

but this pointed out something else that i noticed about the heat. why is Lolli Lolli by three 6 still being played like it's brand new? this song already finished it's cycle on sirius... so its old and tired now for Sirius listners. same with that flo rida song, in the ayer. that stop being popular like in May of this year... the heat is slow.

AND they play t.i. WAY too much. ugh.

"In the Ayer" is not suppose to be a new song... it's being around since early 2008, it's just popular. If your unhappy about certain artists being overplayed, just email them or call them.

I've being listening to The Heat since 2006 and they're very good at breaking new music but I don't really know who's programming the channel now since the merger last week.

XM still has 20 on 20. hey also have kiss and an rnb channel we don't get. I agree with chipmunk sorry, but the Heat is bad. Shade45 shouldn't be playing John Legend as well like someone else said. It would be like ALT nation playing Bob Dylan or something not ALT. I guess if your not a hip-hop fan you wouldn't get this and you would just think were bitching, but truthfully were not. Even on XM the Heat wasn't a replacement for the city. Also don't throw that damn arbitron ratings in our face who the hell did they poll? That could be so skewed. Wasn't New Country number one on the Sirius music list? I thought I remember reading that if so why the hell did the XM channel get picked? I enjoy the pop choices and the rock choices, but they really didn't have a clue when it came to picking the HH line up. HHN will be fine I think if they lift the edits and Shade45 is already great, but they need to fix this heat thing. If they don't it doesn't bother me I guess RIP to Hotjamz, but the Heats play list annoys me and I won't be listening.
