There are SO many stations to play not only pop but there is a modern dance station. I saw that too while flippinng around. The new single doesn't have an once of R&B influence.
I've being listening to The Heat since 2006 and Sirius' description on The Heat's webpage is wrong.
The Heat Rhythmic Hits & Pop and some Reggaeton. If you want Urban, try Hip-Hop Nation or Shade 45.
ok, what's your point? hot jams wasn't that type of music. so it kinda sucks when something you like is taken away... if i wanted top 40, i would go to hits 1.
and they are playing more r&b on hip hop nation and shade 45, which doesn't flow well. and then they mix in random and annoying old school jams. i find my self constantly switching stations. i used to be able to listen to ONE station for an hour or more without switching
and to the OP, its not just Britney... its Pink, Katy Perry and an annoying male singer, mcartney or something. blah
I don't think Dave disagrees with you, he is just saying what the Heat Is, if you are expecting it is going to be Hot Jamz with a different name is just isn't going to be. This isn't the first time Sirius has changed channels like this and/or referred folks to a channel that they deem its replacement and it IS NOTHING LIKE the one they replace or referred to to as a replacement.
The bottom line though for me is I like The Heat and I don't have Sirius Hits 1 on XM. I do not agree with them censoring this channel though I can tell you that.
Anyway clearly these changes have not been for everyone and it has certainly not made everyone happy. But The Heat is what it is and that is Dave's point. If I am wrong Dave please correct me.
By the way what have you guys got against trailer trash hoes? I mean come on they need a channel too. :)

is a music radio format that includes a mix of dance, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and R&B hits
I was just pointing out that The Heat is a Rhythmic format, that regularly plays crossover (pop) hits like Justin Timberlake, Gnarls Barkley, and Britney Spears. You may not like this but the format is right.
Rhythmic Radio (Wikipedia):
The "new" Hip-Hop Nation was meant to replace Hot Jamz (Sirius) and The City (XM) as your standard Urban Contemporary (Hip-Hop & R&B) format which does not include Pop music. It's also uncensored.
In case you still don't know what Rhythmic Radio, try this.
®R&R - Radio & Records, Inc. (Britney Spears is currently at #36 in the rhythmic charts)

BTW, The Heat (according to last Arbitron ratings) was far more popular than The City (XM) and Hot Jamz (Sirius) so it was no surprised The Heat survived the merger.
Rhythmic contemporary, also known as rhythmic top 40, rhythmic contemporary hit radio or rhythmic crossover, is a music radio format that includes a mix of dance, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and R&B hits. While most rhythmic stations' playlists comprised that mentioned above, some tend to lean very urban with current hip-hop, urban pop and R&B hits that gain mainstream appeal. Rhythmic contemporary is usually the music played at clubs and school dances.
You hate The Heat and you loved Hot Jamz - we get it but I was just clarifying to the original post that Crossover & Pop music is not out of format on The Heat.
And btw, The Heat is mostly Hip-Hop & R&B anyways, so I don't see what's the big deal here.
You don't have to..

"In the Ayer" is not suppose to be a new song... it's being around since early 2008, it's just popular. If your unhappy about certain artists being overplayed, just email them or call them.
I've being listening to The Heat since 2006 and they're very good at breaking new music but I don't really know who's programming the channel now since the merger last week.
