Which genre of music has gotten better, worse, or is about the same?

I just spent about three hours going through all the combined music channels. This is what think...

Pop - about the same. I like Flight 26 over The Pulse, but I can live with it.

Rock - Better. I love AltNation, 1st, & Classic Vinyl/Rewind.

Country - Better. I always liked XM's Country Channels better. Adding Outlaw Country is a plus.

Gospel - about the same. Still no Christian Rock Channel.

R&B - About the same. I was afraid it was going to be worse, but it turned out ok.

Hip Hop - about the same

Jazz/Blues - Better! Bluesville is great. Watercolors is so much better than Jazz Café.

Classical - about the same.

International - Better & worse. Spanish music took it in the shorts! What's up with only one Spanish music channel? The other ones are great, but the really f'd things up with the Latin Channels.

Octane is definitely better in my opinion. They've expanded the playlist to add in some groups they lost when Lithium came alone. They've put in some songs from the past few years as well...

Less repetition = good!

I would say that Hip Hop got a bit worse losing the Old School Rap.

Also, Dance lost Boombox which was a minor loss imho.

And really, Latin took the worst hit of any genre.

IMHO2
Boombox going is going to eat away at me. . . . I just know it. . . . .

I want to spend some time with a couple of the new rock stations and a couple of the jazz stations too.

I'm bummed that there is no eclectic station, I really liked Fine Tuning and Disorder. Other than that, Rock is probably about the same.
I also preferred Sirius Blues to Bluesville, so that gets a demerit.
The graphics on my inno suck, they need to redo those.
Over all, I'm happy with the merger, though. Most of what I wanted made it through. I hope that Celtic Crush finds a new home.

Isn't "the Loft" supposed to be for eclectic music?

Well, here are my initial impressions as a Sirius subscriber.. I was mad about the loss of The Beat, however, after listening to BPM for about 20 minutes I already think it's much better than The Beat.

We still have hits 1 and the great morning show. We gained 90s on the 9 and still have The Pulse. Both wins.

Pop2k is, basically, another hits station but so far I like it. Loosing Boombox to it kind of sucks because they arent really the same at all.

So far, as a Sirius subscriber I'm happy with it.. I may actually have more than 5 presets now. If I were an XM subscriber, I'd probably be rather unhappy with the loss of some of the stations that were popular there.

Wow - I only found this forum today. Cool.

Anyway, I haven't had too much time to really check out the channels today, but thus far, I haven't moved off Channel 4 - 40s on 4. Since Sirius lost my #1 preset a while back (Standard Time), I have had a huge loss. Now, I feel like I am getting some of the music from this genre back. However, didn't Xm have a 40s channel and a channel that played "american standards"? Will the 40s on 4 cover both of these? Just wondering.

Other than that HUGE plus, I am sad to see Disorder go. I LOVE that channel. What will happen to Vin and Larry Kirwin (of Celtic Crush??)

Of the stuff I listen to (pop & rock) its a mix.

I like the decade channels. Sirius DJs over the XM decade channels seem to work.
I like First Wave over Fred
I am indifferent to Classic Rewind over Big Tracs. The 2 have been nearly identical for months.
I am deligted at confirmation The Bridge will return in January.

I am disppointed over the loss of Moving EZ.
I am heartbroken over the loss of Lucy.

It is better than I anticipated it would be. It is worse than what I would have liked.
