My Sportster 4 recently began showing the song title, not the artist's name, after correctly issuing an "artist alert" from my stored list of artists. Sirius tech support says they are unaware of any other people having this problem. ??

Push the display button when the alert is still on the screen. You can toggle between station name, artist, and song title this way. You can also toggle this while in category view.

I'm having an issue with the artist alert but not what you're describing... An alert will pop up on my radio but it'll be for a song/artist I've never programmed or even heard of...

I'm at a loss...

Two radios alerts wrong

Both of our radios (since around February) are showing alerts for artists / songs on the religious channels and the 40's station. We don't listen to either. Actual programmed alerts are working fine.

Radios have not updated in several months as well. Sirius customer service claims no other users are having this issue. I find it interesting, since both of our radios are having the same issue with two different radios.

Any help / information? Thanks.

Same here...for over a month, I get artist alerts for two or three artists I never programmed - and which don't appear in my memory list - including one on the 40s channel, and another Country artist. The song alert works fine, it's just the artist alert that's a problem. I haven't contacted customer service yet (kept meaning to come here first to see if it was a wide-spread issue) I wonder if customer service will tell me they haven't heard of this before.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've been getting songs from the 40s channel popping up a lot on alerts.

I have an old streamer GTR and I thought maybe it was the radio starting to fail. Today, it changed the channel automatically so let's see if that continues.

Anyone have any further luck on what this problem is?

I won't bother called SIRI CS, as they're clueless.

This is sort of related. I'm a newbie, unsure of the protocol for starting a new thread, so please excuse this post if it's too off topic.

I'm still learning to use my radio, I've had it for only a few days. I got the Sirius Starmate 5 with the ala carte service, and I'm really happy with it. I am having a little trouble learning some of the features, though, and can't really find exact answers in the manual or on the net.

I've also had artists I never even heard of pop up as artist alerts. It's happend twice. I got trigger happy and memo'd ten artists or so the first day, I'd thought that maybe I'd accidentally memo'd one of these others by mistake, but they're not showing up in my saved list, so I'm stumped.

My main interest in music is jam bands, so Jam_ON has been great ... but jam band artists frequently sit in with each other's bands. Sometimes it's hard to know where or who with you'll find a favorite player (Warren Haynes fans will understand). I've saved "Gov't Mule" as an artist alert, but today "Gov't Mule featuring Les Claypool" played and my radio didn't notify me. I guess it must be a syntax thing and don't know if there's a work around to make sure I get an alert every time Gov't Mule featuring anyone is played.

I can't imagine how frustrating this must be for hip hop fans, where every other song is so-and-so featuring so-and-so. If there's a work-around for this, I'd guess hip hop fans have found it.

Thanks in advance for anyone's time and input. :yesshake:

Since the merge, a lot of music comes from XM's libraries. The 40s channel would certainly be one of those channels. Since how XM and Sirius do their Artist Alerts is different, Sirius XM has to add a "song id" to the stuff in their library to allow Sirius alerts to work. It also allows Loved song recording on the SL line of products too. My guess is that the ids tagged to some of the 40s channel are duplicate on other artists and/or songs which is likely why the alerts are coming up with wrong alerts.

I have no idea about the OPs problem. Sorry. My SL2 does not have Artist Alert because having it on my recordable device would make me a music pirate in the eyes of the RIAA.

I still get tons of these - I've given up on it ever getting fixed. Most of my alerts are for heavy metal or punk tunes/artists, but I get tons of "spiritual" and bluegrass/country (plus a few others) type alerts all the time.

The song ID misplacement is believable. Just another check in the con column of this floundering company.
