Sometime a couple of weeks ago my yes50 suddenly quit reading my S50 (1.5.6). When I click File/open s50 the dialog box shows "Opening S50" and then it just hangs.

Yes50 had worked ok since my last update. I'm wondering if the grinch got into my S50 or into my yes50 (java update?).

I wonder if anyone has used yes50 succesfully lately.

That's the correct Sirius Backstage thread for yes50. Bclbob last updated it for version 1.5.6 in Aug 2007, but I've not heard from him since. Yes50 has been a good alternative to MSS, since it will read the mychannels buffers.

I was hoping that bclbob would continue to support yes50 or release the source code.

At any rate, it appears that I'm the last yes50 Mohican here.

He was invited, but I don't think he has any interest in continuing to support yes50 as there just aren't very many folks that still have the S50 now days.

But yes it would appear that you are one of the last Mohican's interested in yes50.

Errr, next to last... The program works with v1.5.6. Just be careful about the directory you open it to. The only other problem I can possibly think of is if you've upgraded your Java VM to a version that deprecated some of the functions already used by yeS50.

Never heard of it before this thread, strange.

Too bad he stopped supporting it, but its understandable. There was a limited audience for the app to begin with, and now moreso then before.

Hello fellow Mohican Fineware

My XP pro machine did an auto java update on 12-18, and so that might be the problem. My Java control panel shows (click the "about" box on the General tab)

Java 6 Standard Edition
version 6 update 11 (build 1.6.0_11-b03)

If yes50 is working for you, what's your Java version?

Glad you asked, since it forced me to look. My MacBook Pro (glorfied Free BSD box running Sun VMs) has the following listed:
J2SE 5.0 32-bit
Java SE 6 64-bit
J2SE 5.0 64-bit
J2SE 1.4.2 32-bit

From the console, -version says:
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b06-284)

Wasn't aware it was building a library of VMs, but it looks like it defaults to 5.0. So, if you can revert back to 5.0, it might just work again.

Grrrr! No deal.

I rolled my Java back to 5_10 to see if that could be the problem, but yes50 still hung up. I ran MSS just to see if the cable could be the problem, but MSS read the S50 just fine.

Maybe the grinch got into my S50 after all.

Yes50 used to work fine for me, but now it hangs on Opening s50... ESN:........ FW:1.5.6....

Java 6 version 14 is the new Java version updated on my computer 2 weeks ago and I haven't been able to use this ever since.

I wish BCLBob was still on the forums. This program worked great with Vista.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Yes50 to work?

I'm also using Java 6.14. My S50 is 3 years old this past week, and so far, so good. Yes50 has even started working again--maybe it's the Java version. So I'm still in the 50's.

I wish we'd hear from BCLBob, Yes50 guru.

Here's a Yes50 tip for the handful of remaining holdouts: to move a song from My
Channels to a playlist you must do two steps.

1. Save it to Shows & Songs
2. From Shows & Songs, save it to the playlist.

Then Save S50.

Another quirk I've found is that if you wish to move an mp3 from your computer to the S50 using Yes50, it must be at least 64kbps. I had some talk shows recorded at 48kbps, and Yes50 wouldn't import them. But it would import the same show recorded at 64kbps.

Semper S50.
