Animated GIFs as Avatars?

I tried using an animated GIF as an avatar, but it didn't animate. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or is it available to just anyone?

My avatar is animated but there is an image size limit. I copied the rules of the size limit.

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 100 pixels or 100.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

Wolfviper is right. If your image does not fall in both of the guidelines above it will either reject it or attempt to resize it. Animated GIFs don't have much luck with the auto-resizer unfortunately.

Thx dlynx, yea I created my custom animated avatar so it can fit in those rules of size limit.
