How do you get that? What does it mean?

Does anyone know?

Here's the deal... hugely problematic neighbor. I know there's an addiction problem, but I'm not sure what. Maybe pharmaceuticals, maybe something else, but it's strong. He's a wacko.

And he's been bullying not only us, but other neighbors around him. (It's a long story, but he's CRAZY and people are fearful of him).

ANYWAY....

He now has this police emblem in the back window of his car (new thing). My wife is saying that it means that he's somehow affiliated with the Police Department, and (seeing this person) I can't see how that could EVER be the case.

Does anyone know? Is it a PBA thing??? I've donated so much money to the town's PBA but I never get anything back. The PBA cards that I have have been given to me.

Is his shiny emblem in his car a PBA thing? What does it mean???

I don't know if "placard" is the correct term.

It is in his rear window and it looks kinda like a big badge. I don't know if it's metal, or plastic painted with metallic paint.

Can't remember
When we would donate to the Denver PAL League (Denver Police Activities League) , we would receive a sticker that looks just like a badge and on the badge was the PAL name.

Hope that helps and sorry to hear you have to put up with someone like that.

When you pay FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) dues, you usually get one (if this is what you're refering to).

If it's a round circle badge looking thing, he's a member of the FOP (law enforcement member/officer/etc). If it's an oval, he's an associate member (related to law enforcement but not necessarily an officer - I have one of these emblems as I'm a police dispatcher).

Sometimes members get extra emblems and distribute them to friends and family - much like those god damned PBA cards. Doesn't really mean a whole lot, just letting others know you're somehow tied to the Law Enforcement field.

Ah, OK. Thank you. I have to get a closer look. It does look official though. My primary concern is this may be something that he can use to help cover his butt if his crazy behavior escalates further.

In Los Angeles I would always see really nice fast cars have License Plate Frames or Police Type stuff visible. I'm more than convinced it's useful in getting out of speeding tickets for some.

Around here, if you give the donation to the FOP they send you the sticker. It's unofficially supposed to give you a break if you have a minor traffic violation ( a couple over the speed limit, no seat belt, etc.) but nobody would admit it. Officially, it's supposed to give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

It's NOT a sticker. It's clearly something that's inside the car, a large emblem on a stand of sorts (I don't know if it's stuck with glue, or what). I have to take a good look at it.

From what I've seen, it's a metal emblem or shield, and it's maybe 5"X4".

I need to read it.

I've seen some 3 dimensional metal ones in the shape of a badge that people bolt to their license plates that are the same as the sticker type, it just means that they "donated" at a higher level around here.

I'll ask my neighbor(a cop) what they think about them.

Does it look like this? That's for FOP (regular) members...

Or does it resemble this? This one is for associate members (what I have in my car as a dispatcher)

Nope. Not at all. I have to get a better look...

One day I'll try to get a photo of it, but the issue is he parks where he can see the car, and he's WEIRD... a lot of the time he stands at the window, blowing cigarette smoke out (watching the car, I believe).

My gut feeling is that he watches the car because he's so hated (only due to his horrible behavior) that he thinks people might damage it.

Scary dude. NOT all there. He looks like he's about 48-50 years old.

Kind of a silver and blue thing in the back window or on the rear bumper. Some state trooper associations do the same thing. Twenty bucks a year beats the price of a speeding ticket or related infraction.
