A la Carte and Sports

Anyone here have the basic a la carte package? There's some conflicting info on the website concerning sports games.

At the top, they say you can't get live games; but then under the available channel list, they have 211-220 XM play-by-play (which is all I want) without an asterisk or anything. Under the A la Carte + Sports package, it only lists SIRIUS play-by-play. So I'm thinking you can get XM play-by-play in the basic package, but you have do the a la carte + sports to get the Sirius games.

I called Sirius but you know how that goes. The dude really didn't know and kept going back and forth and finally said that you could the XM games. But I wanna make sure before I buy a Starmate 5.

Anyone know anything about this?

Buddy of mine has a Starmate 4 with the best of XM package, that is not an a la carte radio. He gets the major college football/basketball lineup, NHL, golf network, and most of the NBA games, all live.

If that's what you want then you don't need an a la carte package and radio, just the Best of XM for your Sirius receiver.

Yea, that's what I have now, but I'd rather not pay $17 a month for Sirius + Best of XM if I can get everything I want for only $7 with the a la carte deal. Even if the a la carte receiver is $90, it starts paying for itself in 9 months. Follow?

I don't think "Best Of XM" is a part of a-la-carte. I also don't think play by play was included.

Well, it wouldn't be the Best of XM; it'd just be the XM play-by-play. And I think it's just the Sirius play-by-play that isn't included. I don't know...I think the only way to find out is to buy the damn thing, switch to a la carte, and see if channels 211-220 are available as options.

Anyone have a la carte basic that wouldn't mind helping me out and seeing if these channels are available as options when you log into your acct to select your channels?

I highty doubt "Best Of XM" channels would be available on a Sirius radio without paying the Best Of XM premium.

Am I to understand Ala Carte only allows you to choose from either Sirius or Xm and not both? That's odd. I thought you could mix and match from both sides and both of the Best of packages. It'd just cost more.

That was my initial understanding too. But I was corrected on another board with text from the submission to the FCC.
