I like that song. It’s on my guilty pleasure list. (If I actually had one, that is.)
I came across that when I checked out She's So High by Tal Bachman, which doesn't fit all the clues.Darn, Scotch woke up earlier than I did today, his guess looks solid.

It's Jane Child, best-known for her 1990 #2 hit "Don't Wanna Fall In Love". Born Jane Richmond Hyslop 53 years ago in Toronto to classical musician Ricky Hyslop, she learned the piano at an early age. She learned the synthesizer, and when her 1990 self-titled debut album arrived, the press dubbed her "The female Prince". After her 1994 album "Here Not There" tanked, she kept a low profile for the rest of the decade. She did release one more album, "Surge" in 2001.
So, what is Jane doing nowadays? Not much. As a matter of fact, her Twitter hasn't been updated since 2009. But, her husband, Cat Gray is the one-man bandleader on CBS's daytime hit Let's Make a Deal.
