...tomorrow and Wednesday.
Today we had the Birthday Bash replay, but with "behind the scenes" commentary.

Retrospectives about something that happened five years ago. I'm either getting old, Howard's getting lazy, or both.
I suppose a retrospective about something edgy, U.S. Open Sores or the Gay Dance Party is out of the question?
There are a host of reasons I hardly listen anymore, and his retelling of the same stories is certainly one of those. It's either about how his dad hated him, or how horrible Roosevelt was, or else he rehashes his early career (where he explains to the world the right way to become famous), or chronicles how terrestrial radio has faltered since he left it.Just imagine if they re-did the Gay Dance Party with Richard and Sal. It's such a shame they fired KC. Those three would have been great together.
Anyway, today, Howard was talking about his weekend watching football games, which lead into a whole diatribe about his parents and how he'd go to work with his dad and his dad hated him and all that. About 45 minutes (random guess) later, he circled back to watching football. I wonder if he writes down a note about what the original conversation was...I'm listening and am like "Oh yeah...45 minutes ago..."

I hear that VHS rentals are down, too. Maybe it's because of Howard? To be fair, FM radio *has* lost what it had...
I'd be on the front line of the Obama regime, but I've got nothing to do with promoting gay humor on THSS. I think you're barking up the wrong tree on this one. Liberals have long accepted the gay lifestyle; it's only conservatives that would find it shocking, titillating, and funny.I blame all this on obama's regime.
OK I guess, but what does this have to do with the idea (put forth by geosync) that a pro-liberal mindset is responsible for the propensity of gay mockery? Clearly, the theory makes no sense, as pro-LGBT, pro-PC liberals definitely don't support making fun of gay activities and lifestyles, which is what all of this is.Generally speaking:
Liberals -- Pro-GLBT+ but also pro-PC.
Conservatives -- Anti-GLBT+, but anti-PC.
Remember how Howard complained about the FCC and the "cleaning up" of the airwaves? The conservative-lead FCC and conservative groups were behind that. Some time since Janet Jackson, that flipped...or at least mostly.
Nowadays, you can't tell a joke about "a homo midget" without a liberal throwing a fit. A typical Trump supporter probably wouldn't find a problem with those words I put in quotes...but the Trump fans are generally the ones to see issues with "the gays." I know several liberals who would have issues with the Backside Boys and the DMX parody that Howard did back in the 90s. "Because it isn't PC."
Go to any GLBT pride parade and it's a festival of liberals...but it seems like the parades full of assless chaps and gay strippers gyrating on poles are a thing of the past. At least the one in my city strives to be generally PG-rated. Sure, the gay bars have their floats, but let's be real...it's also a lot of churches and general businesses like Best Buy and local businesses and all.
Back to Howard and how it applies to the show... I do think the Sybian rides and Robospanker and all had their time. Howard wanted the A-list celebrities and there are some names who wouldn't come in the day after Rapping Granny rode the Sybian and the day before Jenna Jameson had baloney thrown at her butt.
...and did he ever mention that he would stop that stuff when his daughters got to be that age or is that merely urban legend by this point?
The missing element of the show is the parade of crazy people off the street. This generated content and produced Wack Packers. Today, the show is in a castle with keycard access and security. New Wack Packers aren't generated naturally now. They have to do contests. Drunk strippers getting off of work aren't showing up. They can't get past the lobby.
K-Rock may have been a shit hole, but that led to a lot of creative value, both directly and indirectly.
I live in a pro-LGBT, progressive city but the rest of the state is against this line of thinking. I just feel things moved to this mindset, which I think of as positive, during the obama years. That's not a slam, I think it's been a positive move. I understand some church goers are disgusted by the gay lifestyle. It goes against their views and as one half of my family is extremely devout I can see their side. I suppose the progression from porn chicks has evolved into gay humor. All right fine. But it's been too heavy in the last few years. I still listen to the show so I can't complain too much.OK I guess, but what does this have to do with the idea (put forth by geosync) that a pro-liberal mindset is responsible for the propensity of gay mockery? Nothing against geosync, but obviously Howard's going for funny, and heterosexual activity among the male staffers just isn't funny. Many liberals would say the gay mocking isn't funny either, but traditional "manly" men love it.
I think free FM show scraped more grime out of the listening public, and people willing to send some crazy towards the show. There are just less listeners now than in 2001 let's say. And many of the callers seem like recent converts, who know little about the history of the show. They hate bobo, and mary ann and king, the legacy wack packers.Good point. Howard even brought this up early in the Sirius run. Random Wack Packers and other nutsos (Nicole Bass, Beetlejuice, Jesus Twins) just don't show up anymore. Back in the day, someone like Hank or HPE would be doing crazy things on the street and a guy like KC would be sent down to interview them.
I agree with most of your observations, but I honestly don't know what Howard's thinking was, causing him to pivot from porn stars to gay pranks. Perhaps he feels it's more PC, or it's more appropriate for someone his age. I'm not sure.I live in a pro-LGBT, progressive city but the rest of the state is against this line of thinking.
