reportonbusiness.com: Satellite rivals tune in to same wavelength
Because the U.S. version worked out so well?
I dont know about how the CRTC would respond to this. The CRTC by the way is the Canadian version of the FCC.
Who woulda known? I thought they merged with us.
Nope they are entirely diffrerent companines from the US counterparts. Don't ask me how that happened or works out because I still don't have a clue.
The CRTC has no mandate that the SDARS spectrum be divided in 2. They granted 3 liscences (the 3rd to CHUM who never bothered starting a service -- it would have been a giant repeater network).
The merger up here should be straight forward. Most likely XM Canada will buy Sirius Canada (opposite of the way it is in the states) since XM Canada is public and Sirius Canada is private.
Simple. They're run as separate companies. I mean it's basically 2 entirely different sets of audiences... although they've done a shitty job. SIRIUS US has some canadian stations actual Canadians do not have access to... and american XM subscribers have NHL home ice... i mean it's our friggen national sport!
But to be honest I'm up for a merger between the 2.. I might actually go out and buy a radio to use with my free sub.
I'll bet you five bucks to a toonie the Canadian merger goes through within six months if they decide to do it.
Is Iceberg available in Canada?
I like Iceberg. Would like to hear it on the XM radios too.
Yes it is Iceberg is avalible in Canada and the US. They also have there own independent streaming website at Icebergradio.com
They need to put Iceberg Radio on XM...:worried:

Iceberg is a great channel on Sirius. Hope nothing happens to it. CBC 3 is great also.
And it looks like it may happen Sirius Canada, XM Canada closer to merging than thought - Orbitcast
