Sirius 22, XM 44 … Why?

I wonder if it would be better to have the promos say only the channel name. The numbers are not the same on the two services and they keep changing them around anyway. So why not eliminate the promos saying "First Wave on Sirius 22 and XM 44" and just say "First Wave on SiriusXM."

What do you all think? :blah::blah:

I know they do this for convenience sakes, but I agree with you. I think folks already know what channel they are on. I guess if you are doing a promo for a channel other than the one you are on, then it would make sense, but the generally on do that on the talk channels.

Probably because some of the factory car stereos that have Sirius or XM aren't very well engineered so it's easier to remember the numbers for your favorite channels than to fumble around with the controls to find the appropriate station.

It probably boils down to the same thinking that gives the frequency on the FM dial rather than just the station name. Instead of "This is JACK-FM" it is "This is 92.5 JACK-FM".

At least thats how it was back in 2005 when I last listened to FM.
