You picked a great race, for your first one. Race 26. Last race before the chase. Lot's of action.
Are you talking about 'Shootout Style'? LOL
You had to say that, didn't ya..lol
I knew you'd like that. I am thinking of adding it to my sig. LOL
But a High of 18 in July is insane..
I just read this thread and I defintily do not recommend the Fanveiw. The reason being, your at a race track you can see all the action and instead of playing with some gadget, you could be watching the race. And they have Sprint Vision screens that will show replays and intervals.
I do recommend a scanner, and only rent from Racing Electronics. Their scanners come pre programmed with all Nationwide and Cup drivers and its really easy to navigate.
Its the same feature that they use for SNR driver to crew channels. I find it distracting but the beauty part of listening to MRN at the track is the commercial commentary that can be amusing.

I can't get into the driver to crew chat on Sirius.
Oh I would LOVE that! Remember that clip Moody played of them singing?
A few more things I would recommend. Wear a neutral NASCAR T-Shirt to the track. When I did, I had a lot of friendly smiles, "How ya, doin'", etc.
When I made the mistake of wearing the #88 National Guard T-shirt my brother gave me, man did I get all kinds of attitude! I thought JR. was a popular driver!!!
Bring some snacks for your scanner bag and something soft to sit on if you are on metal bleacher seats. A lightweight disposable plastic poncho is helpful if there is any bad weather forecast....
