Replay AV - Record Multiple Sirius Channels At Same Time?

Does Replay AV support recording two Sirius channels at the same time? I can think of a couple of instances where my favorite shows overlap, and would love to be able to record both.

I'm curious to see how other Replay AV users will answer this. For me, the best answer I can give you is...sometimes.

I am a listener to two shows that are on at the same time...Howard Stern and Alex Bennett. When I first began using Replay AV, I always used the "splitting" feature which allows you to split each show into segments. I would set each segment for an hour. I found that one of the two shows would eventually stop recording and I wouldn't be able to hear both shows in their entirety. I then changed the settings to record each show as one single mp3 file per show. When I made that change, I would say 90% of the time I get to hear both shows with neither one getting cut off.

If you happen to be by the computer while recording you can also check to see if one show stops recording, and then just start it up again. But as I mentioned, this rarely happens now.

Not a perfect solution, but it usually seems to work. When it doesn't, I re-record Stern since the show is repeated throughout the day.

The problem of course is not Replay AV but Sirius has some technology which is supposed to log off one user if another user "logs in" with the same ID. Fortunately, the technology isn't 100% foolproof.

The biggest pain in the ass has been when the stream is down and Replay AV keeps trying to automatically log in to record the show you selected. After 10 failed log-ins you're shut out for the whole day. The stream has been good lately so this has not been a problem in the recent past but when it does I feel like driving to New York, going to Mel Karmizan's office and punching him in the face. (Just kidding. Sort of.)

I would say for me trying to do dual recordings at the same time has been hit or miss. I got a bit frustrated trying to do it awhile back and just quit. It has been a while since I attempted it. I think Wayne is likely right the reason being that once the system (not very efficiently) figured out you are logged in twice it kicks one of the log-ins off.

I have found Replay AV for doing the single recordings very reliable, I'd say about 99 percent of the time. There have been some internet issues where my provider maybe did some maintenance and so the net went down and things like that. Most of that isn't even an issue with Replay AV.

One thing that I did discover this weekend is that if you are using Replay AV and then login using the iPod Touch/iPhone Sirius XM app it will cause Replay AV to log-off too. This is a bummer!

I would say yes, you can do it, and this is how: Set up TheEndless' SiriusStreamer program (http://www.permanence.com/sirius/), then, re-create your scheduled recordings as standard stream recordings (not "Record Sirius"), using the URLs for the channels that SiriusStreamer provides.

I do use this method to record Stern every day although I haven't tried recording two shows at the same time. I have been able to tune two different channels at the same time with success though, so I imagine it would work.

Did anyone try this yet? I'm curious myself.. maybe I'll just schedule a couple of things that overlap as a test.

OK, I can confirm it works... at least for 5 minutes anyway. I used my above method to record two channels at the same time for the same 5 minute period. Both recordings were good all the way through.
