Just to give a Heads Up I got a recall notice for my wife's 1998 Windstar today which says:

Recall: 01S19
Description: PROTECTIVE SPRING SHIELDS.

Recall: 09S09
Description: SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM MODIFICATION.

These conditions can cause the van to CATCH FIRE EVEN WHILE PARKED.

Very funny stuff guys! We got a recall notice today as well for our '98 Windstar, but it was just for the speed control. That's odd.

I'm still driving my 98 Ford Escort. (Also still getting 33 MPG highway) Knock on wood no recalls, and no significant repairs. It's a good set of wheels.

I had a '94 Escort wagon. Great ride.

At 33 mpg with little to no maintenance costs (knock on wood) along with the fact that it's paid off, makes it really easy to hang on to. I'd love a new set of wheels, but I want to wait till the economy is better before I take on a monthly payment. That, and whatever I get has to get at lest 50 mpg and be American.

I used to own a 99 Mustang that was recalled for the same reason, unfortunately mine did catch fire, while I was in a job interview... a few months later they issued the recall.
