I check Barstool most days and one blogger over there keeps going on about PLL. I figured I give it a shot and watch a game yesterday on NBCSN. It was fun to watch. It has some soccer elements (but it's not European and boring and they actually score points) but it takes the most from hockey like the speed of the game and how there can be fights on the field.
A weird thing is I don't think the teams have home cities. There are seven teams this season (one expansion team was added in 2020) and from what I have read they play all over the county each week when a normal season is going on. I may be wrong about that but take a look at where this one team, the Crome, played last season:

it's all over the place, even in Canada.
I think there are a bunch of lacrosse leagues but PLL seems to be the best. They pay the most, 35k a year, and every player has equity in the league. It was started by a guy who plays on one of the teams and his brother. Now Barstool talks about it likely because The Chernin Group is one of the investors in the league and they also own Barstool but I don't really care. It was fun to watch and I think I'll be watching more.
Due to the Covid China Virus CORONA 19, this season is only 2 weeks and they play every day at a stadium in Utah so there is a lot of it on TV. From what I read during their first season last year they sold way more season passes to watch online than they were expecting so it seems like this league will be sticking around.
Also it's kinda neat how they have balls lining the area just outside of out of bounds markers so when a ball goes out the action barely stops. Same with offsides penalties, the offending team quickly puts down the ball and the other team gets possession in like 2 seconds. The refs also throw yellow flags like football.
Oh and they have a 2 point arch, kinda like the 3 point line in the NBA. It's fun to see them score from that far out.
So overall I enjoyed my first time watching pro lacrosse and like how it's such a fast paced and physical game.
