Moving forward, the field for the Budweiser Shootout will be comprised of:
• The 12 drivers who qualified for the previous year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup
• Past NASCAR Sprint Cup champions
• Past Budweiser Shootout champions
• Past Daytona 500 and Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola champions
• The reigning Raybestos Rookie of the Year

I heard some of the conspiracy theorists on 128 this afternoon. It does seem to me like they tried to sneak it in under the rug as the rest of the world is taking a long weekend away from the day-to-day information barrage we all suffer on a daily basis.

Seems to me it would be a lot easier to sneak it in under the rug if you didn't issue a press release. But, maybe that's just me?

I think its fantastic.

I agree. The top X from each manufacturer was a lousy idea. The best teams need to be out there racing so I think the Chase qualifying makes sense. Past Cup & Shootout champions, very cool. Bring back some of those old school guys for this race. Past Daytona winners of the 500 or 400, why not. It's their track hosting it. Reigning Rookie of the Year, very cool opportunity for them.

I dont understand why there needs to be a conspiracy theory about it.

I didn't hear the conspiracy calls but I don't get that either. They took a bad idea and corrected it. :bigclap:

Doesn't matter to me. Will the racing be good or not? That's my only concern.

Sirius Speedway has also learned that Kenny Schrader will drive the #82 Red Bull Toyota in the February 6 Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. Sources close to the team say that negotiations have taken place to put Schrader in the car usually driven by Scott Scott, based on Schrader's eligibility as a former Bud Shootout winner.
