TSS Radio is doing a weekly podcast and we would like to mention SiriusXM news blogs such as DRC. What would you guys suggest we talk about in the first episode? Keep in mind this is just an experimental thing and we're really just trying to do something to add to the help/interest of Sirius XM users. Any comments/ideas would be awesome

I would think the financials would be a good place to start. Its what seems to be on everybody's mind right now.

If you want to stick to programming you could engage in a discussion about how Sirius XM seems to have little or no respect for The Bridge.

Or how Sirius could drop all the JUNK PORN ADS on Stern and just promote THEIR OWN CONTENT ON THE OTHER 160+ CHANNELS THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT???????

I might actually listen to other channels if I knew they existed and seeing how 50% of sirius customers listen to Stern it only makes sense!

maybe consolidating stations? Quantity VS Quality? Are "branded personalties" worth the money? Equipment quality? Sirius' 5year plan focus?

A short reoccurring "Tech Tip" segment would be helpful. Especially to those that don't visit this forum. You know, antenna basics, keeping your SL2 healthy, formatting memory cards, play lists, etc.

I think you could do a whole show on how to baby your SL2 to keep it working. Another show on antenna placement for Sirius and XM.

Maybe a show on the different features of the currently available Sirius & XM radios. Sort of a home shopping 1/2 hour for satrads.

OK.... Brainstorming .......

Equipment Rumor Mill... What may be hitting your shelves in the near future.

Feature on setting up your radio in your home. I think way too many people miss out on so much by only listening in the car. Talk about antenna placement / echo repeater vs. FM transmitter, boomboxes, etc....

Walk the dog... Explore a channel in depth. Comment on strengths and weaknesses. Tell the audience who to contact to request changes, or how to request a song on this channel.

Promo codes - Hide a coupon code somewhere in the show. It would entice people to listen, plus those the catch the code can use it for whatever... 10%, free shipping... etc...

Have your audience register for a drawing. Then you accumulate a list of emails to market too, meanwhile you announce a winning email address and what the prize is and that person has so many days to claim it.

Accept Q&A emails and choose a few to be featured.

Radio reviews.. Put it to the test. What are the pros and cons of this model? Display.. Visibility.. FM strength.. Features.. etc...

Sirius Vs. XM Which is best for you? Is there really a difference anymore?

Stiletto - Way more than a radio, way more than an ipod, but don't let the secret get out or else people will buy them.

To simplify things I think a lot of people don't know the full capabilities and content of the channels. As an outside I was primarily interested in NFL (ch 124). After walking the dog I realized the awesome depth and breadth of channel content.

Assure listeners the company will be around for a long time and why.

Explain the different features, advantages and options of each receiver.

Briefly review the accessories needed to make a listeners life easier.

Give step-by-step instructions on how prospective listeners can sign up for a free three day trial.

Some more ideas:

A segment on the differences between what is broadcast on Sirius and XM may be helpful to those deciding which platform to get (they still have to do that).

A crash course on the various pricing options as well as the, pros and cons of each.

A look at complimentry technology to satrad such as whole house FM transmitters.

Guess what?

They lose those ads and they lose the income they provide. That's not exactly the best idea right now.

If Howard's commericals consisted of nothing but other channels, it would be like ESPN promoting nothing but other shows on that same channel.

If you don't like the commercials, switch to something else, wait three minutes and turn back.

The bad thing about hiding promo codes in the podcast?

One person listens, puts the promo code online, and 100 people use it. At the end of the day, that podcast was only downloaded one time.

"HEY!!! THE WEEKLY CODE IS STERN100." That doesn't really entice people to listen to a podcast, does it?

I do like the idea of a promo code, but this "sharing" idea really has killed off the whole "it's yours and yours alone" concept.

My point is they have TONS of content that no one knows about on over 100 other stations. How would you if they don't get the word out?

Promote what they have and more people will listen. Would have never known about Bubba, Farrell without Stern.

I kind of think maybe showcasing a particular talent/show/station a week to introduce people to stuff they may not normally hear would be a nice addition. Kind of a Walk the Dog type of bit.

In particular I think the individual talk talent should be showcased. As much as the music side is great, in my opinion it is not the best feature or selling point, the fresh content provided by the talk side is what sold me.
