I'm looking for suggestions for good old movies to watch with the kids. Not little kid movies, but ones that we can enjoy together. I know there's some good ones out there that I'm forgetting about. My son is 11 and my daughter 8. Here's some examples of things we've enjoyed:

Back to the Future series
Indiana Jones series
Bill and Ted's adventures
Star Wars

My daughter liked the old Disney TV movies like That Darn Cat, but not so much for the boy. I tried to get him interested in some of the classic westerns, but it didn't seem to hook him. I think its probably too soon for a lot of the war flicks, although i can't wait for him to see Mark Hamill in The Big Red One. (that always sounds like a porno) He was only mildly interested in Planet of the Apes series.

I'm trying to get the old Witch Mountain series to watch before the new version comes out. Smokey and the Bandit might be good altho it seems like it had a lot of sexual overtones.

What do you guys recommend?

Anything by Hayao Miyazaki, especially "Princess Mononoke", "Spirited Away" and "Porco Rosso". I showed my 8 year old daughter the 1st "Pirates of the Caribbean" and she dug that. She loves the new "Doctor Who" series. You might try "Time Bandits". And believe it or not, she enjoyed "2001".

She loves the new "Doctor Who" series.

The new series has been up and down with me. I can't stand the 10th Doctor (David Tennant). For the new series, I would have to say I preferred #9 (Christopher Eccleston).

Things will be different for the show though since Tennant is leaving. The 11th Doctor hasn't been confirmed yet, but the teaser trailer from this year's Children In Need might explain some things.

The old series is the best though. Anything from #2 (Patrick Troughton) or #3 (Jon Pertwee) are classics.

As for other "movies for kids (but not kid movies)", I would have to say just about everything from Jim Carrey's catalog.

We both love Tennant, but I'm glad Davies is leaving the show. "Torchwood" was a tremendous disappointment. I wish they would make a full series this year.

I've shown her some of the old series, Troughton, Hartnell, Pertwee & Baker. I think they're a little too slow for a modern 8 year old. And too many corridors.

Overboard.
Captain Ron
Roger Rabbit
Live Action Disney Kids Movies from the 80's like:
Flight of the Navigator
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Return to Oz (These last two wouldn't be good for really little kids though)

Labyrinth
The Dark Crystal
I hated this move but Willow

That's all I've got for now.
