The company was based in Denmark. They sold pretty decent watches at a pretty decent price.
I didn't say that the production happened in Denmark. If it had been, they would have been quite expensive.
When they sold to Fossil, they became complete shite.

The Wikipedia article says they started in the US, not Denmark. A couple of Danes started it here and gave it a Danish name to sound good. Skagen is the Häagen-Dazs of watches.

I haven't talked about it because I haven't received it yet. I just bought it, but it hasn't shipped.

Fine, whatever. Technicalities that should be corrected for accuracy, but still miss the entire point of my original comments.

Skagen was owned by Danes Henrik & Charlotte Jorst while they lived in New York. He was working for Carlsberg Brewery. So yes, while the company was never based in Denmark, it could still be considered a Danish company based on the owner's nationality. (Please note that Wiki lists Albertslund Denmark as one of Skagen's headquarters......)

So let me update and re-post the question:
Before the Danish owners sold Skagen to Fossil, they were pretty decent affordable watches. Once Fossil owned the company, the quality turned to shit.

When you receive your new watch, please share your thoughts on it's quality. Is it reasonable quality, or is it an electronic faux-Danish turd stinking up your wrist?

I never questioned that their quality went down after Fossil bought them. I don't know anything about them, other than what I read on Wikipedia. Also, I probably won't know how much quality the watch has unless it just falls apart when I put it on.

The watch arrived yesterday. I connected it to my phone late last night and am wearing it today.

The "tilt to wake" is slow and finicky, so I'm trying it in "always on" mode. It always displays the time, but when you tilt it it displays other things as well, like heart rate, battery charge and date. It doesn't seem like the battery will last all day in this mode.

It responds to "OK Google".

It's light and comfortable.

Horrible design: To pick a time zone, you must pick a city. In the Central timezone, there's Chicago (which is the standard city for that timezone). They also offer Austin and Dallas, but not Houston. Once you pick it it shows up on the watch face. So people living in Houston (4th most populous city in the US) have to look at CHI, DAL or AUS on their watch.

I filed a complaint.

I'm sending it back. The battery life is unacceptable. It never made it through a full day. I tried to use it to record a bike ride today and it lost 50 of my miles, then ran out of juice before 11am.

Friday I received a Garmin Forerunner 935.

It has all of the features of their top of the line watch, but in a plastic case, so it is lighter and cheaper. It works with all of my ANT+ sensors, so I can use it as a bike computer. The battery charge lasts many days. Maybe a week or more. It has a heart rate monitor, GPS and shows notifications from my phone. So far it's perfect.

I am impressed by this watch. With GPS off the battery lasts about 2 weeks. It does all of the things I need and I don't have charge anxiety. It told me yesterday that my stress level is very, very low. It says I'm resting when I'm at work, and my all-day stress level was 9 on a scale of 1 to 100. It told me my "fitness age" is 46, which is 7 years younger than my actual age. That's one way to make a customer feel good about spending $400 on a watch.
