Did anyone else see the piece on Jimmie Johnson on the pre race show? He's sittin in a Lowes tent and mouthed off to the camera about signing autographs for people wearing Home Depot shirts. What a jerk! He should have refused to sign it and took his medicine if he was so offended by it, and not been a chicken***t behind the fans back! Can fans not have more than one favorite driver? Hell, should you not take the opportunity for an autograph just because of your attire? I understand the irony of the two stores, but big deal. He says he doesn't care what people think anymore, and he can afford not to.........NOW! I bet you if you go ask his brother, who has not made it yet, if he cares he would tell you something different. Just as JJ would have before he made it. Just another jerk that we made a gazillionaire! These guys are not gods, and until we stop treating them like they are, their egos will only get worse. I am not an autograph junky, but I don't blame people if they want one. And thats coming from a Jr fan!

Can't remember
I saw that piece too and thought....WOW!!!! Shouldn't matter what attire the fan is wearing, be thankful there are fans out there. Me, I'm not a autograph person, I'd rather a picture of the driver, but to each their own.

I can see Uranus from here
I think the driver sponsored by Lowe's, sitting in a tent paid for by Lowe's, signing autographs while wearing a suit with Lowe's plastered all over it. Has a very valid point in commenting that a fan wearing home depot orange is not welcome.
I work for Fedex, If i pulled up to a UPS terminal in my route truck while in uniform and walked in to ship a package I should be fired from my job. I have nothing against UPS, but i know which side my toast is buttered. Jimmy knows which side as well, and i agree with him.

I hope, and think, Jimmy was kidding around. I didn't see it and wasn't there. But it's the fans that make all this happen. IF Jimmy was actually ticked then I STRONGLY dissagree with his actions.

Myself, I don't have just ONE driver I follow. I like many drivers and don't care what make of car they drive. I'm the same way with the NFL, or any sport. I like the SPORT and the COMPETITION. Sometimes I like the driver, sometimes it's the team, sometimes it's the owner, etc.

I would hope that he was kidding as well.

On a side note, did anyone see his Dad in the post-race show? A real 'class-act'! If Jimmy is the way people are stating in this thread, he didn't get it from his Dad.

There is no way to prove if he was kidding or not, only he knows that. But using your AND Jimmie's logic, if I go into Lowes wearing a Home Depot racing tshirt I should be escorted out, right? We both know they wont turn down a dollar, nor should they. Him having a problem with it is one thing, popping off while looking into the camera is another. That is the definition of NO class. But hey, maybe he was having a bad day having to fulfill those petty autograph sessions. I bet if you ask a kid in the Nationwide series for his autograph, he wont give 2 craps WHAT your wearing!

Thats not a fair analagy. Walking into lowes wearing a home depot racing shirt to make a purchase is one thing. I find it funny that someone would do that, but thats their choice. Walking into a lowes autograph tent to ask their driver to sign something while wearing home depot orange and expecting that driver to not be bothered by it is another issue. Maybe the real issue here is Jimmies tact in handling the matter, or lack thereof.

I bet the employee's wouldn't even notice. Most of them don't even want to make eye contact for fear that you may ask them for help.

Walking into a Lowe's or Home Depot and asking for help is like crying "Fire!" in a movie house. Everybody heads away from you. ;)

Thats all I was trying to say, maybe the title of the thread got too much attention. I just look at it like this, the person he was reffering to might only shop at Lowes for whatever reason. And might like TONY more so than HD. Now he's sitting at home watching Raceday and says cool there I am on TV, and then JJ pops off. I wonder how that would make ANY of us feel. I stated in my thread that it was a bit ironic, and I personally dont go after autograqphs at the track, but I understand some people do. When you arrive at the track, your mind is already set on what you chose to wear. But if you have opportuity for autograph and thats your thing, you shouldnt have to worry about what your wearing and pass up the autograph.
I will say that if your attending some of the very expensive hospitality events, that might be different. But this did not appear to be one of those type. Just my opinion.
