I still have my Vista laptop and I run XP and Vista Ultimate on my MacBook.

I think for this very reason some that are buying new notebooks are strongly considering the MacBook or MacBook Pro. I know recently at BB there was a guy there that was looking at a MacBook and he told me at work I have to use Windows XP or Vista, but I myself prefer the Mac OS, so this gives me the best of both worlds.

I actually was going to buy a MacBook, but decided to hold off for awhile, but I will indeed eventually get one.

Windows Vista:

64 bit tweak of a
32 bit extension to a
16 bit user interface for an
8 bit operating system based on a
4 bit architecture from a
2 bit company that can't stand
1 bit of competition

:p

The only thing that may be announced soon (probably at the Macworld Expo in January) will be the updated 17" MacBook Pro with the LED screen and the glass touchpad like the current 15" MBP and 13" MB models.

Funny how everyone that I know who uses a Mac also runs some version of Windows on their machine, but I don't know one person running a Windows machine with a virtual Mac OS installation...

;)

I do it for a few reasons.

Because I can ;), I use Microsoft Money (I have for years), and there are a lot of programs that just don't work on a Mac. :)

Apple makes that hard. They want to be a "computer company", not a software company, so they put as many road blocks as they can to keep folks from running their OS on someone else's hardware.

Well, that's what they used to say. Now they're a "lifestyle company", but they still don't make it easy to run their OS on anything but an official Mac.

I smell porn.

People use Macs because they can. They use Windows because they have to. I have never heard anyone say, "I have to use a Mac to run my (insert specific application)." But I have heard lots of PC users say that.

For example, my boss just bought a new PC for his wife for Christmas. He considered a Mac, but in the end, price and worries about software swayed him towards a Gateway laptop. Price aside (he can afford whatever), if he were convinced that a Mac would let his wife run Excel and Word, he may have gone that route.

Of course, I knew he could, but I was pushing Open Office... :p

He should have been more worried about this:

:D

But yeah, as a Mac user, I sometimes have to run Windows to test things out for our userbase. Since they are mostly Dell PC's, I need to see how upgrades and changes to our vendor software impacts them. I can run VMWare easily without having to live full time in the other environment and without having to have a dedicated system cluttering up my office more that it already is. (No Bootcamp here - I'm not *that* into running Windows :) )

Now that I've been using my new laptop for sometime, it definitely kicks ass! The video performance is killer (for a laptop at least), and I just like the quality Lenovo (IBM) puts into its products.

Vista rocks on it, and I can't wait for Windows 7 to kick it into a higher gear.

I even had a friend who has a MacBook Air who had to admit this laptop was too sweet!

That's an awsome price for what you got. I paid almost that much last April for my Extensa 4420.

Wow,I feel cheated! I paid just about 800 bucks about 9 months ago for my new HP, and thought it was a good deal, but I'm still glad with my purchase. It was my first Laptop purchase ever, and I love the little guy.
