Like him or not. Root for him or not. Quite an accomplishment! Congrats to Jimmie Johnson. :ter: For the first time in the 78-year history of the award it was given to a NASCAR driver.

Let the 'Are NASCAR drivers athletes?' debate begin.

DP it alredy has lots of stick and ball sportswriters and call in radio hosts are saying JJ isn't an athelete. The fill in on ESPN radio's morning show (Erik Kuselisis and Merrill Hoge) said JJ IS an athelete but the would have given the award to Puljos of MLB, with JJ 2nd because he did something no one else ever has.

It's a debate that never ends. Doesn't much matter though, the voting is complete and a NASCAR driver has come out on top, this time. :flex:

I'm glad a nascar driver got it...if only to give the finger to all the know-it-all typical espn type sports snots. Ha Ha! :p

There are those who put nascar in the same circle as the WWE. In a way, this legitimizes the sport even more.

It also brings added value to all the companies that do business with nascar, the teams, and the drivers. That can only help the sport :)
