Depends. Artie can be really out of it and sleepy and not be very funny. Jim Norton when he gets in one of his characters and just riffs can have me on the floor laughing. His bit on the new Van Halen song was brilliant. Artie and Jim have different styles and when Artie is alert and has something to make fun of (like a stupid porn star) he can be very funny too. Artie is good for sarcastic comments, while Norton has more energy and can just take off on a topic. O&A and Howard are two different shows, and both of their sidekicks are well-suited for their respective shows.

I used to love Artie but after all the "sick days" and falling asleep on the air i started listening to O&A and i gotta say Norton is the best part of the show.(Van Halen bit was funny!)

    Norton is better.

Here is one of the segments that brought me on board to the O and A show. Jimmy's rant with a truck driver who was calling to complain about the language content. It was in 2005 when most SIRIUS receivers were "bulky and Jimmy makes a reference to this. He says to buy a SIRIUS unit, you will need your tractor trailer to haul it. :jj:

Norton's a mad comic. He's good when it's time to put someone down.

Artie's just all around funny. I like him better, but Norton's not too far behind...:)

I'd have to hear a set from both of them but I can say they are BOTH very talented.

Norton is vicious, and funny from what I've heard.

Artie I think is hilarious, also. And he can be vicious and dig into someone also, but Howard seems to tone Artie down a lot. If Artie tries to get rolling on someone and rip into them, Howard tells him to stop it or be nice and artie just shuts up.

If anyone see this tonight, please let me know how it was. It would have been cool if SIRIUS XM could somehow broadcast this.

I think they are equally as funny and both excell at riffing. Norton carries the entire O & A show and Artie is the perfect addition to Stern's commentary.
Artie is great when Nick Dipalo or Dave Attell sits in. I would love to hear a week with Jim Norton sitting in with Artie and Howard.
Norton is the stronger stand up comedian, but they both are equal in color commentary on the show.

They both suck, Artie has never been funny and his constant references to drug use is getting old and boring. Norton doesn't know when to shut up. Bring back Jackie!!!

lange all day any day. i did like norton on that hbo show that only lasted one season. what was it called...life with louie or something?

also rev bob seems to like norton, which in my book is a huge strike against him.

    semipenguin likes this.

There's an interesting dynamic in that whenever Howard says anything about Opie and Anthony, Artie is suddenly very quiet. The same thing happened when Opie and Anthony spent 2 full days bashing Howard a couple weeks ago...the usually very vocal Jim Norton was silent.
Artie and Jim are friends and do a good job staying nuetral. Last week Jim Norton said something positive about Rev. Bob Levy...Anthony quickly changed the subject.
