Are any of you going through this??? I don't want to seem ungrateful; I'm NOT!

I think the problem is that I have everything (within reason) that I want. Because I bought it already!

I won't really go though the specific gifts from my family and others, but holy geez! I still have some laying around since last Christmas.

Are you folks dealing with bad clothes and such???

I'm OK with em. I don't get too many WTF'ers. The Mrs picks out decent clothes, and people don't get me such.

For me, the thing is that I used to like getting people gifts much more than I do these days.
It used to be so much easier to pick gifts out for people. The stress of trying to get someone something they will like sucks anymore. Maybe I'm at the age where everybody I'm shopping for already has the stuff they need. Gift cards are the easy thing, and I know people will pick out what they really want, but they just seem so uncreative to me.

Shopping for other people stresses me out, unless they tell me exactly what they want.
I'm pretty easy to buy for... I don't buy myself much throughout the year, and usually want or need some good stuff come Christmas time.

I hate thinking of what presents to buy. However, when I know of the perfect present for someone I will generally spare no expense (within reason). Those are the most rewarding gifts to give but they are also the most rare. It always seems to boil down to gift cards and whatever now that we're all adults and pretty much buy the stuff we want and don't need to wait for Christmas. I can't tell you how many times I've been told to not buy something and wait for Christmas (or my birthday) for someone else to get it for me. That's all well and good, but I want it NOW!

I just get a more satisfied feeling if I'm buying something for myself for under $100. If it's over $100, then sure buy it for me, but you won't because of the "recession" that's been going on for the past "20 years!"

Just buy me giftcards and be done with it...

Wow, this ranting feels good!

Damn. Some folks are just never happy.

I love Christmas presents. I'll figure out how to enjoy just about anything someone gives me. And if that's just impossible, at least they thought about me enough to bother.

My Husband is tough to buy for, he can never give me any idea's which makes it hard but I manage and he always likes everything I get him.. I am pretty easy for him to buy for as we go out to the mall and I pick out things I like and then leave him to it..

Other family members we ask them for ideas. Some don't give any which drives us mad but we manage even if it is a Gift Card somewhere, but who doesn't love getting a Gift Card to their favorite store.

Here is a good article I ran across on Yahoo, I wish I could talk my family into doing this:

Christian Group Launches New Attack on Christmas Commercialism - Yahoo! News

That sounds good to this atheist. We don't go nuts on gifts in my family. I get my wife a little something, she gets me a little something, and we try to limit how much we get our daughter. We do very little shopping this time of year. Mostly we make cookies, decorate, watch Christmas movies, play games and hang out with each other.

The whole Christmas shopping season economic setup is horribly inefficient. I used to work at a company that verified retail payments. We had to run all year with twice as much equipment as we needed just to be ready for Black Friday. Shortly after New Year's that equipment sat idle while we bought more to handle next year's season. Any systems analyst can see that's a big waste of money, and for what benefit?

I'm with the bag on this one.

I pretty much have everything I want also so I tell my family around the beginning of November NOT to buy me anything so what they do is go to the post office and pick up a couple of letters to Santa.

Christmas presents are a blessing! I've gotten clothes are too big or too small. I still accept them graciously. The fact is sometimes it is something I'd never buy for myself because I don't like the color or the style. Then again sometimes I get stuff I really like and enjoy. Usually after a month or so the clothes that I don't like I donate them to the salvation army or some other local charity that helps others. It gives me great pleasure to do that too.

Oren hate is a strong word, I can't imagine feeling hate for anything at Christmas time. Buying gifts for others can be hard and maybe a bit stressful, but usually I know the person I am buying for and if push comes to shove I'll get them a gift card at a restaurant or general sports store where I know they can surely make use of it.

In all honesty I have a very limited list of folks that I exchange gifts with and we all know each other so well it is rare that I get anything I don't like or can't make use of in some way.

I love presents!
I have a 3 present requirement from my family.. and no I'm not greedy.. one year they didn't get me anything, I was the only one not opening gifts they (husband and son) told me they thought I would buy my own gifts.. whatever!
so ever since then I add the requirement..and they don't have to be expensive..just something for me to open.

That's so sad!
