Firstly, obviously no sensible person could condone Charlie Sheen allegedly threatening his wife with a knife, nor could I. :)

Howard "then": Why did Charlie Sheen threaten to stab his wife? Because she wouldn't listen?

Howard "now": What a piece of crap Charlie Sheen is, how does he get away with this, it's ridiculous, I mean, when is Hollywood going to wake up and turn its back on this guy, it's unbelieveable, he *just* had twins with Denise Richards (??? Still unclear on the relevance of this and the fact that it was years ago), he's got a track record for pete's sake.

With Howard "then," it was understood Howard was making an uncouth and offensive joke and he didn't try to hide it, he didn't apologize, and it was funny.

Howard "now" has to beat us over the head with a morality two-by-four about the evils of spousal abuse like he's the first to realize it. Thank God Charlie Sheen never released doves into the air! :peace:

Nope. That would be a Howard "thenism" as previous examples.

RDog then: would laugh it off as an obvious joke based on his thread.

RDog now: ???

Didn't we just hear a HoHS special that had "Howard then" beating us over the head about the morality of OJ killing his wife and Woody Allen marrying his almost-daughter?

If he would have made a joke about Sheen's wife being stabbed for not listening and left it at that, people would complain that he just glossed over the subject and no longer has the balls to call out celebrities when they are immoral and that Hamptons Howie must be sucking up to Charlie Sheen in the hopes of a guest spot on his horrible TV show.

Who even knows what Howard really thinks anymore. Is he saying that because it's the PC thing to say or does he really feel that way?

Who knows?

It's the wanna-be psychiatrist in him, it proliferates the Stern landscape these days, it's the reason why he "couches" everything he says.

The difference.....Howard has only one lazy writer NOW! Howard is quick, but the offensive jokes seemed to have come from Jackie AND Fred.
