Green Day on Faction?

...someone still thinks they're punk?

I was listening to something about them and the guy mentioned "their debut album Dookie." I cringed.

:(

Green day is still okay, but far from what they were. Heard a few songs from the new album(s?). kill the DJ is pretty good, but again, this is not a punk band in the traditional sense anymore. But thats okay, they still make catchy songs, but..its a bit painful to see them in their current form sometimes.

Isn't the lead singer still in some kind of anger management rehab?

Take em for what they are/record. Don't worry about the labels.

Yeah, I understand that they are whatever they want to be. But it's jarring when you have a personal feeling towards a band or group, and define them by songs or albums that are connected to a certain period of your life, and they change that. But totally understandable.

Indeed. At one time, they were a band who would sleep in the basement of their fans' houses, when they weren't sleeping in their own van. They were drinking mass amounts of alcohol.

...and then Dookie happened and they went mainstream, which meant that all that stopped and they cleaned up their image.

Somewhere along the way, they transformed into a radio-friendly, wannabe-emo band.

It's hard to stay an angry youth when you've got a million bucks in the bank and your biggest problem is if the promoter put the right brand of beer in your dressing room before the gig. Meh, they (sorta) grew up. There are other angry young bands picking up where the old Green Day left off.

Fuck Greenday for cancelling the remainder of their tour dates because Billy has an addiction problem.

Way to repay loyal fans, douchebags.

On, and 3 in Spanish is Tres, not Tre. God, what douchebaggery.

Agreed. They're to today's "punk" as Avril Lavigne is. If the time frame wasn't an issue, they could have easily opened for the Ramones or Sex Pistols...but then later in their career they could have shared the stage with Avril.

There's just something "icky" about that.

Maybe they're trying to "mark out" to Chad OchoCinco? :2funny:

He's a douchebag, too.

I thought it was some reference to U2's botched Spanish Counting... uno, dos, tres, catorce (1,2,3, 14). I don't get it; Spanish isn't that hard.
