    How are those pompous?

U2 and REM are pompous mostly because of the political activities of their front men, and how seriously they take themselves. No one who takes themselves seriously would include "Carlton and His Shoes" on their top 10 list.

It's pompous to include obscure, non-conforming artists in a contest, whose premise is to advance by popular vote.

    I was following the rules:

"Start suggesting your top 10 dead or alive artists/bands and hopefully this can go good."

You can call my top 10 dead or alive artists/bands "obscure", "whimsical", "erudite" or "eclectic", but they aren't "pompous".

Welcome to the Elite 8 of the DRC Music Madness tournament. There are 4 matches to vote from and voting is easy, just delete the artist/band you don't want to advance for each matchup. The Elite 8 starts now and I won't accept no more votes till Thursday night at 8pm PST. If there are some ties, then a sudden death vote off will be posted.

    20 Talking Heads
    28 Prince

    2 U2

So no polls? Not sure where we are but I will vote for:
    MJ over Bowie
    Talking Heads over Prince
    Stevie Wonder over U2
    Chuck Berry over Beatles

Well I missed most of those. Not sure I agree with all your choices. I am shocked that Dexy's Midnight Runners have not made it this far.

Same with meme and I, but I'm going by people choices and whomever has the most votes advances to the next round.

After 7 votes in still pretty close race, just about anybody could win.
