Do you still subscribe to any print-based publications?

Printed newspapers and magazines seem to be dying off more and more...do you still subscribe to any?

The only thing I still subscribe to is Sports Illustrated.

I go to chron.com (Houston Chronicle) for my local news.

My CAA membership sends me a monthly magazine. My cable company sends me one a month too. I read neither. I think my U alumni does too periodically.

I had a 3 month subscription to USA Today, but I used it for comedy writing purposes. They always seem to have a strange story from around the world that is great fodder for comedy. Other than that I still buy certain magazines mostly because I still like to read print and the advertisements as well. I guess I just like print ads better than pop-ups or side windows. I am thinking about getting a Kindle and if I do I'm sure I will subscribe to several different newspapers as well as books. Currently I subscribe to a bunch of RSS feeds and I use google reader and Viigo on my mobile device. I LOVE Viigo!! And blackberry users or Windows Mobile users out there should get this! Not sure if they have it for iPhones, but worth looking into. I also use a free stock ticker for up to the minute stock stuff. Its free for windows mobile and BB users.

I use the AP application on the Bberry for news local/nation. I did subscribe to The Economist, which was a great read, but I never had the time to sit down and read a whole magazine.

I have a stack of them here I have never touched. But it is cool to see the economists of our time and their thoughts, pre-recession :(

Popular Science I pay for and I'm currently getting Wired and a couple of photography magazines for free (my wife does surveys and gets magazine subscriptions for prizes). You've lost your goddamn mind if you think I'm buying a $300 gadget to read a $2 a month magazine.

(Although I will shell out a grand for a glorified porn viewer from Dell. :p)

Det News/Freep
Cooking Light
Mad Magazine
Maxim
Pop. Photography
Budget Travel
Spin
Rolling Stone
Car & Driver
Automobile
Wired
MacWorld

The wife gets:
Shape
Burda
Threads

And probably a few more that I can't remember at the moment. To be honest, most of them are freebie subs that I don't actually pay anything for. Usually hers are the ones that we end up paying for.

I have a subscription to Macworld that is set to expire in November. It's a good magazine, but since I go to the rumor sites, there's no need to re-subscribe to it when it expires.

Burda is a German "fashion" home-sewer's magazine. It's big gimmick is that every month they provide a number of patterns in each issue along with pictures and such. Cool magazine for people who like making their own stuff, but it's pretty pricey.

I get Digital Camera Magazine delivered to the house and Architectural Record and Architect delivered to the office. (Those two are free with a professional membership.)

I was never really big on print news.

It's funny to see what folks subscribe to. It's almost like a little window into their personalities...

Heheheh..... Good thread, AJII

My wife insists on the local paper but I think only for the crossword. I've never read our local paper and never plan to.

I get:

Maxim
Shaved Asians
Barlely Legal
Super Jugs
All Naturals
Big'un's

Oh wait, I forgot, I only get Maxim.

I used to get Maxim and Men's Health until the money and their subscriptions ran out. I may resubscribe as well as to a couple of medical journals to go with my studies/career. Beyond that there's really nothing that can't be found online.

We get the local paper, plus I've been a long-time sub of the WSJ. I started out during the
dawn of the internet with just the WSJ.com, but with discounts now I get the paper also.
I actually like reading real print in the evening after staring at a computer monitor for 8 + hrs.
It's easier on my eyes.

We also get Time for free. It's okay, mostly essay & opinion based stuff these days since they
can't compete with hard news Online.
