Someone called in this week and made the point that competition cautions should be where drivers come in the pits and go back out as there were...lined up with no need to hurry off pit road because you get your spot back.

I don't agree with that, but, I do think competition cautions should require a 4 tire change that's mandatory. After all, it's done for safety reasons and to gather data and tire wear information, not for making a risky call to gain a few dozen spots. Take gas if you want to, but change those Eagles so the folks can make them better and so the racing is better.

I can understand that persons point as it would be NASCAR that stopping the race for a quick tire check. I agree with you that it should require the 4 tire change. :yesshake:

Like mghtx said, don't forget Indy!

If I remember correctly, those were not technically competitions cautions because who ever came off pit road first was the leader, until Jimmie Johnson would pass them a lap or two later...

Lap leaders: J. Johnson 1-15, D. Earnhardt Jr. 16-23, J. Gordon 24-29, J. Johnson 30, S. Riggs 31, Ky. Busch 32-35, J. Gordon 36, J. Johnson 37-48, T. Kvapil 49-51, Ky. Busch 52-61, J. Johnson 62-66, B. Vickers 67, A. Allmendinger 68-71, J. Johnson 72-82, M. McDowell 83, R. Smith 84, M. Truex Jr. 85-87, C. Edwards 88-90, J. Johnson 91-99, D. Blaney 100, E. Sadler 101-105, J. Burton 106-115, J. Johnson 116-123, D. Hamlin 124-138, C. Edwards 139, D. Hamlin 140-150, J. Johnson 151-160

Cautions: Laps: 5-9 (#15,55 accident turn 2), 15-17 (#2,29 accident turn 2), 30-34 (debris), 48-53 (#17 spun backstretch), 66-70 (competition), 83-86 (competition), 99-105 (competition), 107-112 (oil on track), 123-127 (competition), 139-141 (competition), 151-153 (competition)

I always thought under all cautions it is the first person off of pit road that is the leader.

ok Indy was bad but it was an aberration. They supposedly have a better tire for this year.

YEAH, but the track is the same. Chews up tires like nothing.
