Just one undefeated left standing in basketball after yesterday's games...the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Not many would have thought that coming into this season. Hopefully a lot more people know who Jeff Teague is after yesterday. He's been doing his best Chris Paul impression this season.

NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology) snapped its NCAA-record 51 game losing streak tonight, beating Bryant University. So congrats to the mighty Highlanders! Bryant University vs. N.J.I.T. - Recap - January 21, 2009 - ESPN

Something I find a little stupid...NJIT will be a member of Division I Basketball's upcoming Great West Conference (starting in '09-'10). Yes, a New Jersey school in the Great West. Makes a lot of sense, I know. Some of the other schools in the Great West? Chicago State, Houston Baptist, Univs. of North Dakota and South Dakota, Utah Valley Univ...just to name a few. And, Seattle University is considering joining. So you'd have a conference spanning from New Jersey over to Washington state, Texas up to North Dakota. Wow, imagine the travel expenses. http://greatwestconference.cstv.com/about-gwfc/gwfc-about-gwfc.html

Well that kind've leaves only unbeaten teams in conference left and that list is getting slimmer.
Some name teams include:
Duke 5-0 in ACC. Probably No.1 overall this week
Xavier 5-0 in A10
Marquette and Louisville 6-0 in Big East
Oklahoma 5-0 in Big12 Kansas 4-0
Memphis 5-0 in Conf USA
Butler 9-0 in the Horizon
Kentucky 5-0 in SEC

Also Gonzaga is 5-0 in West Coast, Utah St 7-0 in WAC and Davidson and Siena are 9-0 in their conferences.

Houston's Aubrey Coleman has been suspended for one game by Conference USA for violating the league's sportsmanship policy. Coleman said on Monday that he did not intend to step on Chase Budinger's face. Judge for yourself...

Yeah I can't wait for that game. It'll also tell us a lot about Wake Forest. How good are they really?

Well, there you go. Wake bounces back, No. 1 falls again. With the extra bonus that No. 1 happened to be Dook. :p

I was unable to watch most of the game, but saw the last 2 mins. or so. My all accounts, Wake was really beating Dook quite badly, til they had to make it interesting.

Good for Wake. Very physical game, props to the refs for letting them play and not being seduced by Duke's propensity to play D by creating charging calls by flopping.

That really was a great game. Wake had a pretty comfortable cushion until late when Duke came back and tied it. Dino Gaudio is making a very fine case for Coach of the Year. That out-of-bounds play he scripted was fantastic.

Looks like we will have a new number one again. UConn seems to be in line for the promotion this week. They may have a tough time holding on to the top ranking too...they have to go to Louisville on Monday night.

I still don't know what to make of Wake Forest. They have wins over the top 3 teams in the ACC (UNC, Duke, and Clemson), but losses against Virginia Tech, Gerogia Tech, and last night's blowout to Miami. I think they might be a little too inconsistent to be a legit Final Four contender.

Duke got killed last night too...74-47 to Clemson. Gotta love that.

Austin Daye...if this kid can ever put on some weight and gain some muscle, he could be one hell of a player in the NBA. But he makes Kevin Durant look like a body-builder. He's 6-11, 200 pounds! I'm 10 inches shorter but just as heavy! He gets killed on the glass, can't box-out anybody. But he has all the talent in the world, just needs to get stronger.

Marquette went down last night, losing their first game inside the Big East....to SOUTH FLORIDA?!?! Really bad loss. You deserve to lose when you go 10-23 from the line.

The Mens Buckeye basketball team has beaten a #7 and #14 ranked team this past week. We have a young team but an NCAA Tournament bid is very possible.

The ESPN Game Day Crew was scheduled to be in Madison for Badgers vs Buckeyes on Valentine's Day. But the Badgers aren't doing very well this year.
