After leaving XM what seems like many years ago (It was really only like 4), then joining Sirius for a year while I owned a Jeep with it pre-installed (that has since been traded), I have purchased a new satellite radio receiver today. A "Grand Re-opening" of a remodeled nearby Best Buy (complete with a free $10 gift card), combined with some Reward Zone certificates to help pay for it and the desire to get back into SXM NASCAR Radio, were the incentive to get me back into the service.
After doing some quick looking - but no real research - I went with the SiriusXM Edge. I'm very happy to see that this is one of the new "2.0" receivers, capable of receiving signals from both Sirius' and XM's broadcast systems.
As I was expecting, the audio compression for the music channels is deadly on my ears. All I can do, though, is wait it out while the new receivers slowly make their rounds and more and more people get them. Maybe they'll start eliminating duplicate content between the two systems as more subscribers get these receivers, freeing up bandwidth to improve audio quality!
But I'm back in the Satellite Radio game... listening at home via my Sonos players, and on the road with my SiriusXM Edge!
