Caught Artie's helicopter story last night. Sounded like he thought he was doing a stand-up bit on stage. The story went on way too long with way too many embellishments and Artie laughs. Then he continued on with the ex-cop helicopter pilot's exploits and I thought he was going to go on with the Wu Tang Clan stories when Howard cut him off for a commercial. One of the few times when Howard was on the sidelines for a long period during an Artie story, just going "uh huh, uh huh" Artie usually knows when to let Howard in but he seemed to be in another place.

I can't tell from your post if you liked this story or not.

I thought this was a great, hilarious story that would really only happen to Artie. I really enjoyed this part of the show and I would love to hear more of the Helicopter Mike stories.

Also, I love how all of these people on the show have perfect nicknames.

I enjoyed the story (except that it was way too long) and I am a big fan of Artie. My point was that it seemed Artie didn't know that he was doing the morning show. He normally has a sense of when to bring Howard in or to shorten the story. I don't think Howard likes to be on the sidelines going "uh huh uh huh" for too long.. I had that uneasy feeling that Artie was on something and would have kept going had Howard not taken a break.

Got it. Yes, I agree that Artie did drag this one on but again, I thought it was funny.
They should have tried to get KYLE on the phone so he could report. A crazy Vietnam Vet that lives in a log cabin with no electricity certainly sounds like a hilarious character to have on the air.

Funny you of all people should complain about succinctness. Seems like most of your posts ramble on and on in one large chunk of a paragraph. At least Artie's aimless anecdotes (Steve Langford alliteration for ya) are interesting.

And this one in particular I thought was very captivating. Imagine having to land a helicopter in some random people's yard...then not being able to take off again because of Artie's massive frame. I thought it was one of Artie's better stories as of late.

As I said above in another of my lengthy, boring posts, it wasn't the story (which was interesting) that I was complaining about... it was the ramble... Artie as well as Gary and Robin know that Howard wants a succinct story (unless it involves a lesbian first experience in which case the longer the better). You can usually predict when he is going to intervene. This time Artie seems to be in another place..such as on stage doing his stand-up.. It really struck me that he was ready to go on and on until Howard stopped him.

I personally agree with the OP. Those stories where Howard lets Artie just go with the narrative really suck. Like the Pig Suit story, the How I got Hooked on Heroin story, the Mad TV Cast Intervention story, the I Got Jizzed On At A Porn Orgy story, the Lost MY Virginity To A Brazilian Hooker story, . . . uhhhhh . . . wait . . . errrm . . . nevermind.

It's a live show, with no post-editing. Sorry it didn't stand up to your strict editing standards... If you look hard enough, there's always a flaw. Thanks for finding today's... :churn:

So, has Artie been on the wagon since Christmas (as he stated today) or did he have a beer with the guy where he landed the copter (from that conversation)? During the copter story, he stated that the guy insisted that he had a beer. Doubt that he let it sit without drinking it.

Artie's never been a big beer guy... If it was a shot of Jack, I'd be more inclined to believe...

The guy basically raped his mouth with beer. :D

The story was a good one. Sometimes you can't tighten a story if a ton of crap is going on in it.

The entire story was probably fake as shit but I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of Artie holding down a helicopter.
