I was thinking today about all the idiots in the news that I'd like to email. About the protests that I'd like to go to. About the political rallies that I would like to attend. About all the causes that I would like, as an American, to be part of....

... but I can't.

You give up your rights once you raise your hand and swear in. You can be kicked out of the army for attending political rallies or for being part of political organizations. You can be kicked out for acting like a moron in public. You can be kicked out for being a vocal proponent for some religious belief.

"Don't ask, don't tell" is just like everything else in the military. You're a soldier, period. If anything about your personal life reaches the public, you're subject to termination. Anyone that doesn't get that they're giving up their personal life/beliefs once the uniform is on, just doesn't get it.

Infidelity isn't a crime, but it's grounds for termination in the military. Dating a 25 yr old isn't illegal, but if she's enlisted and you're an officer, you will be terminated in the military.

Normal laws do not apply in the military.

Once you swear in, you're a soldier and you leave everything else at the door.

Welcome to the UCMJ....

There are some very strange rules and regulations that the UCMJ enforces. I've had to deal with the for the last 30 years of my military career.

Wait unitl you are deployed to the middle east along with the General Order #1. That states you as a soldier WILL not view any type of pornographic material.
You as a soldier will not consume, possess or manufacture any type of alcohol. Because it will offend the Muslim relegion and believes

This struck me funny due to the fact that Haji would was looking at porn when you went into one of their Haji shops to use the intenet or phone. And you could go up North in theater and the Kurd would sell you alcohol.
