Ouch for Toronto.

Who the fuck would take a bet at only 8/1 that the Cubs will win the World Series? It ain't gonna happen (Thank God).

My predictions:

AL East Winner/Wildcard will be NYY and BOS (in some order)
AL Central: Minnesota
AL West: Angels

NL East: Philly
NL Central: Somebody other than the Cubs
NL West: Please don't make it the Dogers
NL Wildcard: Please anybody but the Cubs or Dogers or Braves

The Blue Jays will be effectivly out of it come May but will keep just close enough for us fans to start to dream. Then August they will start a run and look like they might pull it off --- then they will hit a critical series and lose 3 out of 4 and be quickly eliminated.

True, but 2005 seems like a loooooong time ago. They haven't made the playoffs since, and I really doubt they get back in '09. The only players left from that World Series season of 2005...Lance Berkman, Roy Oswalt, Wandy Rodriguez, and maybe Brandon Backe (might not make the team this year). That's it, and we're only talking 4 years ago. Really goes to show the kind of turnover you see on rosters nowadays in professional sports.

I'm hoping you're right about the Royals though. If Houston is worse than them (no offense to any KC fans), then it's gonna be an even longer summer than anticipated.

Just remember ... last year ... nobody in their right minds picked Tampa Bay to be anything more than cellar dwellers.

The difference between the Rays organization going into last season and the Astros this season is YOUNG talent. Tampa Bay had so much of it last year and it all came together so they could make a run. You look at the Astro organization and their farm system is a barren wasteland. It's rated dead last among all MLB teams. And all the talent on the big league roster is either old already or aging, save Hunter Pence. Houston doesn't have an Evan Longoria or a David Price just waiting to bust out. Nope, we've got guys like Miguel Tejada, and Pudge Rodriguez, and Mike Hampton. I'm still waiting on them to sign Pedro Martinez...he'd fit right in!

An aging roster + complete crap in the minors = no playoffs for years to come

Figured you'd be a Rockies fan, seeing as how you're a Bronco fan. That, and you may be the only one anywhere picking Colorado to get to the playoffs!

The Rockies are my NL team. If they play their cards right they could surprise some people this year, The NL West is going to stink on Ice short of maybe the Dodgers. So the Rockies have a chance at the Wild Card. Or they have a chance to lose 100 games, it could go either way.
