No they don't (it may say it on the website but it isn't necessary). I have never had my boxes (DRV, HD, etc...) hooked to anything other than an HDMI cable (going to the TV or A/V receiver) and the dish itself (via splitters). If you want to have their "on demand" service then it needs to be hooked to the Internet. I believe you also need it for the whole-home DVR as well.

OK, I lied, I do have one box (one of my 3 DVRs) hooked to the Internet for the "on demand" stuff. However, that just happened since moving last year. The 4 years prior I didn't have it hooked to the Internet.

Then I stand corrected. 11 years ago, though, they couldn't set up a DVR in my house without a landline. That was so dumb I dropped them.
