crap. my dad is the biggest part of my family and so i gotta figure out a way to make this day great for my senior 84 yo pops. i dont like to say this but it may be the last one i have with him. i hope he has another decade in him but he keeps telling me that hes in decline. he lives in an independent community so hes on his own but if he needs a nurse he can just call in house. this sucks.

so hes all about gardening. im thinking im gonna head to home depot and buy some kinda house plant for him. also hes got a mango tree right outside his window and hes totally obsessed with it. he cant wait to go look around and find mangoes that have fell off the tree. he does this like 3 times a day now that the tree has full fruit hanging from it.

so im thinking im gonna buy him this:

plus a card and a plant.

but i worry. like i said hes all old and i dont know if its a good idea to have him reaching up and grabbing mangoes from trees...he might fall and that would blow.

so anyway....advice guys?

If my kid got me gardening tools I'd feel like a plow ox. "Reall? I'm 84 and you want me to harvest mangoes?". But that's just me. I hate fruit. Not a big fan of effort, either.

I'm lucky. I'm a dad, so I get stuff, and my dad is dead, so I don't have to give stuff. Sweet!

Stuff is just stuff. Mrs. Bag is taking me and Memegirl to a nice fish joint I've been wanting to try. Time with them is what I really enjoy.

Why not hire a day worker from the Home Depot to pick his Mangos?

My dad gets a card. I got a new lunch box and a travel coffee mug.

hahah u both are funny. but he really likes the whole process of getting them. he talks about it all the time. i gotta work on sunday so i gave him his gifts earlier today. got both the mango grabber and the plant. made him promise he would use the electric wheelchair while using it cause i dont want him to fall over reaching up. maybe he was just being nice but he seemed to really like them. the plant got a bigger reaction than the mango thing but whatever. the fing plant was like $4 and the mango thing was like $50. but whatever, as long as i made him happy for a little while. that was the point.
