Default DHL Domestic service discontinued

I find this very sad. Just another sign of the times

Yeah they had 3 or 4 months ago already started shutting down routes in rural areas around here. We had to switch to FedEx! I guess this is the final straw for them unfortunately!

The saddest part is all the layoffs. I guess FedEx and UPS are just too efficient for them to compete.

Exactly. The layoffs is disturbing. It was easy to see this coming for them. Every time DHL would come for a pickup (we ship to Canada with them) the trucks we 99% empty. There weren't efficient at all. UPS for most markets is very efficient. But no shipper can be perfect.

But I don't suspect this will be such a large amount of business that UPS and FedEx will start hiring to handle the increased business from the loss of DHL.

Yeah I'm certain UPS and FedEx can absorb the load without any additional resources.

That explains the message i got when i called FedEx to pick up a package.
The recording stated if you are a DHL customer you can set up a new account with us. Then they gave the options for that before the voice command for a pickup etc.

They lasted a lot longer than I thought they could. I seriously thought they were hanging on by a string a few years back when they acquired Emery.

I give them credit for being around this long.

Talking What a friggin joke......

the majority of DHL drivers/couriers are "contract" drivers, they make about $9 bucks an hour, and the LV hub is a disaster, I worked their for 2 days and quit.... never got a paycheck either for the 2 days I did work, called corp. in FL., apparently the crackhead HR person in LV never logged my info in the system to get paid.

things were better when airborne express was around.... IMHO.
