Slacker could use some volume normalizations. One song can be considerably larger than the previous one. This is something that SXM and my MP3 player do well.

I remember seeing that salcker asked for help letting them know what songs were out of whack.

Personally I never notice it on my stations. Maybe on a few obscure punk songs, but not more than on sirus....or my CD player on disc shuffle for that matter.

I think the G2 player has volume equalization?

No you should hear the station jingles even if you are a plus or premium subcriber, you just won't hear the ads.

When I unheart an artist, the only way that will stick is to do a "Save" of the station at that point.
Not sure if this is a bug or by design. I know most changes are locked when you hit apply except for the selection of artist. In my experience I can unheart artist and even add artist and as long as I remember before closing out to hit SAVE all those changes are saved. They just added that apply not to long ago so it just may not apply to artist could be by design, could be a bug. However, I always hit SAVE when I am exiting out of it when making changes anyway. So I've never had it fail to unheart for me.

iPod Touch and iPhone Slacker app has volume normalization so I've never heard a wide difference between songs. I know on the forum some have suggested they add this to the web player, but apparently they never have. I rarely listen via the web player.

The minute I do anything else inside the station editor, I lose the unheart unless I hit save immediaty. I have always exited via Save but it would show the artist as hearted again if I moved to the next one. For now I am getting the songs set up then I will go through and unheart most of the artists except for about 5 or 6.

I'll have to test this out, but I don't recall this happening! Then again I never really created stations by hearting a bunch of artist which is likely why I've not seen this. I have always created my stations by songs and never just by artist.

I'll try it out and post my finding. If it is a bug I'll report it!

I like the song method too. Just trying to undo my only option at the time (as a free user).

Yeah I understand what you are saying!

By the way I just tested out what you said and you are correct. I can duplicate it just as you stated.

I am going to put in a bug ticket on this, but it likely won't be high on their fix list since most likely create stations by songs rather than artist only.

No need for them to fix it, I have unselected most of the artists except the ones I wanted selected. I have been playing with the fine tuning. I had set the favourites to "more" figuring it would discover music from the artists I had hearted. But it was doing it for artists where I had deliberatly selected just one or 2 songs. So I am not exactly happy with how that works. And more is hardly more. It seemed to be drifting off favourites almost every other song.

Setting it for more just gives you more music within the genre that you've selected most of your music from. You were mistaken to believe that it would only select artist that you had selected. Max will get you closer to where you want to be if you are looking to play 99.9% of the songs you've selected. It will as I said occasionally throw in a stray song that you have not selected. I sort of like this myself as I often find it is likely a song I like and usually end up adding it as a favorite.
