Default New Slacker Portable at Best Buy

I was at a Best Buy yesterday and was blown away that the new Slacker Portable is now being carried there. That's kinda a big deal. Kudos to Slacker.

I can't remember. I should probably look into one. I know it's a competing technology but I don't want to be too stubborn that I'm not flexible in keeping up.

I do remember someone telling me though when we were there that it would be given a display unit shortly.

I am excited that Slacker is going to offer its service on BB phones. Supposedly it will work almost the same as on a Slacker Portable.

Peep it.

From the pictures I've seen of the unit, it looks like a BlackBerry without the keyboard...almost like the new BlackBerry Storm.

The Slacker site lists it at $199 for the 4GB (25 stations) and $249 for the 8GB (40 stations), so it will probably be the same at BB.

I'm really tempted to get the Slacker Portable.

The idea of it sounds amazing, and I like the online portion of it and sites like it, like pandora, LAST.FM, and more.

BUT, after playing around for a while, I think I might get bored with having stations that have songs I may not like. I think I just like the idea of a new gadget at the moment, because the more I think about it, the more I wonder how much I'll enjoy the stations it makes for you. I like playing with it now and again. But next to Sirius and my Zune, it'd be hard to find time to use it and get the monies worth. If it were the only device I had, then maybe.

Arrrgh. Decisions decisions.

It does in terms of bandwidth. It does not in terms of coverage.
