Default Mad Dog Report

After a month on satellite I can safely say that his addition to the channels has been the best terrestrial hiring since Howard. There are problems with his phones a lot of the times and the rest of the hours of his station are pretty hit and miss affairs and the sound quality ain't the best, but overall I think his show is great. I only wish I could hear it more than I do.

Just wondering about what some of the sports guys think of his show.

What time is the show on and do they have replays ? I always liked Mike and the Mad Dog, not sure about Chris on his own, but I would like to give it a listen.

I haven't listened late at night, but I believe they repeat his show through the late, late hours. As it is, though I was off this last week, I normally only get to listen to about an hour and a half of his show. I have officially gone overboard on my listening trends.

I'll tune in a bit less once baseball is over, but I love the guy...you should check him out, he's got a lot of enthusiasm for sports.

It's on live Monday-Friday from 2-7 eastern. If you tune to channel 123 online, they have his show on constant replay through out the day.

I listened to Mike/Mad Dog on WFAN/NY for most of their years together but now when I flip back and forth between their solo shows in the afternoon I almost always choose Mad Dog. He sounds like he's having fun, has decent guests, and his old man is pretty funny too.

I completely agree. Like I said over at SBS, I'm now almost 100% confident that I'd stick with Sirius if Howard does end up leaving in a couple years. Before Russo was hired, I wasn't so sure.

I like the show as I record it on occassion. Is it me or am I just guessing that he favors baseball over football?

(If so, that is a good thing )

Russo just had on former Astro manager Phil Garner to talk about the Rays' collapse last night as compared to that NLCS Game 5 from 2005 (the Pujols HR off of Lidge). I thought it was a really good "spot" (as Russo says)...maybe I'm a little biased being an Astro fan. But it was nice to relive that '05 World Series run. Couldn't help but laugh though when Chris kept calling Roy Oswalt, "Oswald".

Yeah, we discussed this a lot over at SBS. It's pretty obvious that baseball is Russo's favorite sport. Baseball talk has dominated the show so far, which has been great. You really can't blame him either, he started at Sirius/XM right at the end of the MLB season when all the races were coming down to the end, and now the playoffs are going on. My guess is, when the World Series is over, he'll really get into the NFL as the main point of conversation, with college football sprinkled in as well. Hopefully he'll talk some NBA and college basketball as well. I can do without hockey.

'05, it reminded me of the '02 World Series. I'm surprised Chris didn't pull that one out as well.

You'll have to forgive Chris when he mispronounces some words. He still can't say Cornuba Wax or Chamois. But the thing is, subconsciously or not, whenever someone from outside of Texas does the Texas math with Oswalt's name, you can kind of understand when there's an Oswald slip up...it's not as if he's the only person to make that mistake, I'm sure he hasn't acted alone, there must be others.
