Default Layoffs Coming to XM

Per the radio trade publication ALL ACCESS:

---

ALL ACCESS heard from 16 tons of XM SATELLITE folks who surfed to a page on the company's Intranet site, that listed their benefits, vacation days, etc.

Shocker when some of them found out their personal information included a termination date of OCTOBER 15th. Stand by! The list could be long.

---

Oops!

I guess they are getting ready to make those cuts. What a sucky way to find out you are getting the axe.

It's not just XM it's SIRIUS too. Between the merger and the economy I've NEVER known so many people to lose their jobs in the past 6 months. It's scary.

Wow, who saw this coming?

Unfortunately, XM is going to be hacked to pieces in the coming weeks.

Man, you never wanna here about people losing jobs. Things are really getting rough. I was glad to see the stock market bounce today, lets just hope it continues.

My heart goes out to anyone that may lose their job. What a cold way to find out though!

They have all the equipment. Now they just have to reduce fixed costs.

Unfortunately, this happens through staff reductions most of the time.

And, "Becoming more 'green'".

Staff cuts were inevitable outcome of the merger.

Cost cutting is critical is the new company is to survive. It is also more evident with the consolidation of "duplicate" channels.

Well this certainly is sad to see, my prayers go out to those who will be effected.

BUT, this is exactly the reason for the merger...to cut costs for both companies and this is just one of those things. I hope these people saw this coming and were able to line up a new job.
