Default What happens if Liberty brings the Internet Radio Service WorldWide?

Imagine if when Liberty takes over they start working with other countries outside North America to allow the Internet Service worldwide?

For example if they were legally allowed to stream to the UK, to Japan, to South Africa, and THE IRAQ SUCH AS (inside joke).

The music channels could be very appealing. More choices is always good. And some people prefer DJed music more than just auto playlists, and vice versa.

I can't really see the downside.

Just even a mention of this to those personalities on the channels would probably drastically change the buzz and energy of those working for the service.

So how else could this one potential change affect the course of SiriusXM?

You basically have to provide a US Address to get it going. So not technically it's not. And it's certainly not promoted outside US and Canada.

Because SiriusXM seems to follow all the royalty rules and whatnot, which I'm not sure can be said about a lot of Internet Radio services, they have to cut deals and negotiate for every market they enter into.

The Sirius Internet Radio service was kind of plugged as being available anywhere but somewhere along the way they started advertising it as US and PR. I forget when.

I do think that it is a good idea for SiriusXM to have non-native programming too. Americans often live in a bubble and it helps expand things a bit. Unfortunately, we've lost BBC Radio 1, which I enjoyed pretty often.

Satellite Radio should go both ways. It could offer American content to the world as well as the world's content to the US. I hope they fix that some day.

The next step in "fixing" big businesses that are public are the shareholders throwing out Mel and friends as they are GARBAGE. Just take all the money like the company is about to go under.

$500K/year is a very good salary and if these idiots would just take that HUGE amount of money instead of $10s of MILLIONS the company would have more money to invest in things like ANTENNAS IN THE BOSTON TUNNEL FOR INSTANCE????????

Imagine if you were in Mel's position and needed to get the word out about the company. You can either do nothing and take the money for yourself OR you can spend a couple million and add some antennas in heavy traffic areas like the Boston tunnel system.

I think Liberty knows this and they are not interested in making their money by robbing the company. Dumping Mel, Scott and CO would save the company about $100M/year. That's about how much Stern takes in every month for the company. Imagine if Sirius could get Stern revenue AND that money goes into the company instead of the pockets of a few?

Liberty can do a stock buyback that will bring them back to a legit and viable company that has a stock that's worth actual money and no debt problems.

If you have money get the stock cause it's about to start the climb to $10/share.

I forgot to add that liberty has the ability to take Sirius worldwide as they have the $$ to buy up Worldspace which has satellites all over Asia and could easily be repurposed.

I really don't see a radical change happening if the Liberty guys get in there. What would they realistically change? Maybe a more aggressive push to unify the two platforms? I don't see the price coming down. I dont see any major changes in the programming since its a mass appeal service. Too much niche programming will be the kiss of death.
