Press release:

Clear Channel Extends Reach of Iconic Radio Brands via XM Satellite Radio

Fans Can Now Find Five Top Clear Channel Radio Stations on the XM Satellite Radio Service and on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s Digital Service

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Clear Channel Radio, the leading media company in America with a greater reach than any other radio or television company, today announced that five of its industry-leading radio stations, covering five different formats, began simulcasting on the XM satellite radio service beginning today at 12:01 a.m. The stations include:

KIIS-FM, a Top 40 station based in Los Angeles, CA is now simulcasting on XM Channel 11;
Z100, the nation’s largest CHR/Top 40 station based in New York City, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 12;
WLTW Lite FM, an adult contemporary station in NYC, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 13;
WSIX, a country station based in Nashville, TN is now simulcasting on XM Channel 57; and
WGCI in Chicago, an urban station, is now simulcasting on XM Channel 163.

“Clear Channel’s goal is to be wherever our listeners are with the content they want and expect, and that includes offering our top stations and formats on the satellite platform,” said John Hogan, President and CEO of Clear Channel Radio. “These five stations have fans across the country, from people who listen in their home cities to those who have discovered them on iHeartRadio, our digital service. Now we can extend them to listeners who tune in via XM satellite radio.”

The company’s new simulcasts replace current Clear Channel programming on XM satellite radio, although only one involves a change in format. The simulcasts will not appear on Sirius satellite radio. In addition to the new channels on XM, as always, fans can access simulcasts of these stations through iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s industry-leading digital radio service, which delivers more than 750 of America’s favorite radio stations from 150 cities. iHeartRadio is available on the web at iHeartRadio.com and on any smartphone device including iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, and now the iPad.

It won't affect me, if you want to listen to commercial music on SiriusXM!

Only way to listen to these new channels is to record, playback and skip through all ads. That LiteFM channel is pretty good.

Notice when they go to commercial they only play one commercial then it says your listening to Z100 on SiriusXM 12 and then it will play a song and then rejoin the live feed once the ads are done.

That's what they used to do on WSIX before they flipped it over to The Nashville Channel. Since the formats on the CC stations are relatively generic, what we will have now is not much different than what we had with their canned national feeds.

For example, if I had an IT business my statement would be something like:
We'll keep client's computers and network working to minimize their downtime.
(if I even had one - you know what your business is - why do you need an official statement about it?)

I don't need a over-sized paragraph with a lot of flowery words to say the same thing.

I know sales/marketing would say more and I don't fault them for that but they're not selling the 'mission statement' of the company but are selling products and services.

Along the same lines it's always bugged me when CEO's would speak or be interviewed. Most of what they say is high-level glossy nonsense delivered with chocolates, flowers, and a smile. The current TiVo CEO is a good example - it's like watching a politician. Now, there are some that I think know the business and have vision and don't really fit into this category (Steve Jobs, Bill Gate (at the time), Charlie Ergen, Mel Kaz-something (Sirius/XM), I could name a few others, if I really thought about it) but must of them just toss out glossy BS to the press and stockholders which really amounts to a whole lot of nothing.
