'Car Talk' duo calling it quits
After 25 years on the air, NPR's chatty Car Talk duo is finally putting on the brakes.
NPR says Tom Magliozzi, 74, and his brother, Ray, 63, announced today that they will stop making new episodes of Car Talk at the end of September, NPR's blog Two-Way reports.
The Saturday morning chat show about cars features the real-life Boston mechanics bantering about automobiles, car repairs, or whatever else is on their mind.
"My brother has always been 'work-averse,' " says Ray, 63, in explaining the move. "Now, apparently, even the one hour a week is killing him!"
"It's brutal!" Tom adds.
