I thought Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, etc.) was from Ravenna, Ohio - a little east of Cleveland? Could be an urban legend/b.s. story in the area...

Just looking up Wikipedia, India Arie was born here, Philip Bailey (Earth, Wind and Fire) attended High school here. Two things I didn't know before.

Hagerstown MD's claim to fame is Kix. Saw them many times in clubs here and still do. Wrathchild America was based in Martinsburg, WV about 10 miles away. If you're not familiar with them, their drummer was Shannon Larkin now with Godsmack. First saw Shannon when he was 14. Was it really that long ago?

Agreed. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio to a baptist couple (why do so many performers come from super-religious families?) but moved to MI at an early age - before making music. So technically, from MI since he started performing there. Trent Reznor was actually born in PA, but moved to Cleveland to record music. Same situation.

Musicwise, about all we've got is:
Tom Scholz - Boston
Art Tatum - jazz pianist
Scott Shriner - Weezer
Crystal Bowersox - whatever.

Weird Al Yankovic is from Lynwood, CA

I lived in Lynwood when I was a kid. Off and on from 1970 until 1975
