Dab why are you such a prick?

I liked the pace as well and said that.

But people dont want to sit through a 10 minuite commerical. Thats the issue I am bringing up.

As you may or may not know I own DishStore.NET and when I first started doing shows I use to pump the hell out of DishStore, but that caused people to tune out. So I had to bring down the amount of plugging I did and in doing that my listener numbers went up and now my Podcast is regularly featured on itunes.

Just trying to give some advice as I said I have been there and done that.

I'm going to chime in once more even though I'm kinda scared too
First, I really was kinda blind sided that this thread got started since it has to do with TSS. In hindsight I would have started it a few weeks after we did it and just posted it and people would naturally give their thoughts. Since the thread was so open ended on getting opinions then people will clearly request the podcast be a certain style or a certain topic even though we had established the core reason which was a weekly podcast for people going to our website who wanted a different take on products and whatnot in an audio forum. I think this thread probably more belongs in Studio Lounge since it's less about SIRIUS XM and more about TSS as a business.

My guess is that Scott did a podcast for SatelliteGuys.US and not for a business, so it's a totally different motive and style in the first place. It's a different kind of podcast. We could do a podcast about SIRIUS XM news, we could do one about posters and the goings on about DRC or we could do one that is purely entertainment from the staff we have at TSS. But none of those is the reason why we are doing this one.

So that being said, Jimmy is working on the next one and he will take the suggestions that add to the current style and we really hope it's improved. But highlighting what we have on or daily specials and stuff like that IS what it's for. We've never given a clue what we are going to put on sale prior to the sale happening and that's just one bonus that we are throwing in there. All in all the podcast will be better and the style needs to be more subtle. Hell if IdRatherBeSkiing suggests it I have to absorb the advice He's never steered us wrong before.

You gave your advice or suggestions and I gave mine, now it is up to them to decide, which direction to go.

I am a prick for saying that your Podcast bored me and you lost my attention? Sorry Scott, but the few times I listened they did. You seem to be able to dish it out, but you can't handle it when it comes to your own work.

My point was clear, I would like to see TSS keep them short, sweet and to the point. I also concurred that they need to minimize the ads, but keep the pace going.

This makes the second time now you've called me a name. But being much bigger than you I did not respond in kind then I won't do so now.

That is exactly correct, different motives looking to accomplish different things and two different type Podcast. I think most of us caught the point of the Podcast and while it needed a tad bit of tweaking overall it was good.

Just don't lose the fun aspect of this, make it enjoyable. I had a blast listening to the other one and I am looking forward to the next.

Just don't allow a select few to discourage! It so easy to get discouraged, but this is a really cool and fun endeavor.

I think working in some ideas like Walk the Dog, etc. is not necessarily a bad idea.

Would any of the online services like Slacker or Pandora be discussed, since you said it isn't strictly Sirius XM?

Other than that everything has pretty much been covered such as Sirius XM news and also more technical and programming stuff. Maybe get people to come on and talk about their Sirius XM experiences, what their favorite channels are, what radios they have, how they found out about and first got satellite radio, etc.

I thought the podcast was fine but I will admit, I was thinking it was going to be something more than just a glorified TSS promo. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Not saying you guys should be the ones to do it but I would enjoy a DRC type of podcast where satrad is discussed along with some time on Slacker, iPod, and other radio in general, etc.

I dont' think it was JUST a TSS Promo! I heard them highlight a product (that is sold in hundreds of stores) and tell about its usability, I heard them provide support information and that information was free rather you bought anything from TSS Radio or not. Sure it says what they have on special this week, but they are the ones providing the information, so why shouldn't they promote themselves to a certain degree? They also promoted DRC as well!

I don't see there being much motivation to offer a DRC type Podcast because there are so many products and basically anything that is digital and a radio would qualify.

My favorite aspect of the TSS Radio Podcast, it doesn't last long enough to get bored with it and you get a lot of good information and it takes every bit of 10 or 15 minutes and I know what is on special this week, AND THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT!
