Unfortunately Sirius phased out support over a year ago. . . . . But knock on wood, it's still running very well for me.

So why not have pod cast downloads of Howard and other shows, stored as PAC files? First of all you would need a sirius.com password and valid account to download. You'd also need an activated portable stiletto to be able to listen.

So you'd have to be paying subscriber to download, and you wouldn't be able to share the content to anyone other than paying subscribers.

They could even market super tiny sirius portables, and have a podcast subcription at a reduced price. This tiny portable could play PAC and MP3s. You could put you own music on, and download your favorite sirius shows. And maybe they record 10 hours of each music channela month for downloading or something like that.

Damn straight.

What bit rate options does replay av have? I would also have to subscribe to the internet stream. Fast forwarding through the commercials on the iphone would be a pita as well.

Sorry to steer off topic.
Sorry I missed this earlier. I am finding that 6 hours of music recording at the full 128kb AAC file takes up about 337mb, 6 hours is a lot of music and I don't think that size file would really be that much out of line considering if you had 6 hours of individual files. By the way the bit rates can be whatever you want them to be, so if you wanted a smaller file you could go with a lower bitrate. My iPhone is a 32gb verity so I don't worry too much about space. I sync my phone about once a month if that, but if one was using this for say recording Howard Stern, it would just be a matter of allow Replay to copy the file to iTunes, plugging in the iPhone or iPod Touch for about 5 minutes while are getting ready to leave and your done. It takes a bit of adjustment but very doable and works very well. Clearly not for everyone though!

I don't do Howard or deal with commercials, so that has never been an issue for me. But simply hitting the little >> with it set to remember where you left off works wonders on other audio files I've tried.

So let me get this straight, Sirius doesn't want to support WiFi on any portable device any longer? That doesn't make sense. I would almost consider buying an XM subscription to get a new portable when my SL2 makes it's last run. The Sat. signal doesn't reach 3/4 of the areas in my gym. My SL2 is starting to get flaky now too... Should I buy a back up now before they are totally gone? The app is OK on the BlackBerry, just installed it yesterday, but I don't like how fast it drains the battery.

I am wondering the same thing...buy a Stiletto 2 while they are available.. Does this mean we will not see another Sirius portable ever again? Usually when they discontinue one device, they always had another portable ready to go..

My wireless plan comes up for renewal in July. Since current smart phones cannot stream channel 100 I might go month-to-month til I'm sure Sirius will not resign Howard. I like the skydock feature and really like Apple 3GS iphones.

I have tried it on the Blackberry. It drains the battery too fast. Also, if you follow the wireless industry you'll see that every major carrier is planning changes to their data plan pricing to discourage heavy data use. So you'll soon be paying a very high price for unlimited data plans.

My question is, where is the cross platform portable? By eliminating the only Sirius portable with no replacement, it appears that the XM platform will be the surviving platform when the company shuts one down to save money.

I'm with you. I'd still like to keep a separate receiver from my cell. Battery drain, the way I listen to tunes, and use my cell. It's oddly more convenient for me to have 2 devices for now.

Eventually, I'm sure I'll go for an all in one set-up.

I think that most diehards wouldn't be shocked if they did cease production on all Sirius-branded radios. Considering that you can get 99% of everything with a XM Everything & Best of Sirius subscription, that seems to be the way to go.

Get an XM SkyDock with iPhone
SiriusXM app for iPhone
ReplayAV for recording and computer access

It would probably cost close to $20 a month (before any discounts), but the combination of the top three things seems to be the most stable, best technology, and the true "everything, everywhere" option.

I'm sure over time, the "Best of" packages will be going away.
